Pitlick hit on Chatfield earns match penalty – Have your say!
Tyler Pitlick was issued a match penalty for this hit to Jalen Chatfield as it was ruled an illegal check to the head. Was it the right call? Have your say!
Oh yeah, absolutely. The difference between this and the hit on Duchene is that Duchene was leaning and skated into the contact more than being hit while this is directly to the side of the head. You said it best in the Duchene video, it’s the approach.
The difference is the degree of violence. When you check a guy through the head with that much force, it's at least a major. Ref called it a match at his discretion.
Principal point of contact was dead center of his chest. If the principal point of contact was the head Chatfield would have been stretchered off in a neck brace.

That's the exact same hit as the hit on Duchene. Both massively dirty. The Wild will recieve their comeuppence. 🤷
