October 31, 2025: Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider had his potential game-tying goal disallowed for what the NHL Situation Room deemed a ‘distinct kicking motion’ against the Anaheim Ducks.
Not sure we agree here. Check out the rule – and some comparisons to other legal kicks – at Scouting the Refs: https://scoutingtherefs.com/2025/11/50108/wings-seider-loses-goal-to-distinct-kicking-motion-vs-ducks/

I honestly think no matter whos side the calls gonna be against, ppl will always respond to wes the same way
I was at this game last night! There was no motion with the kick.
Is there actual video?
They obviously don't want our opinion. Ever view I've seen is just like this one. Inconclusive if you ask me. Of course Fan Duel and Bet MGM are calling the shots nowadays.
There was no fuckin kicking motion and if you think there was you’ve never watched nor played soccer and even if there was it doesn’t matter because he barley pushed it with his stick afterwards which if you have eyes you can clearly see it
What's the definition of a kicking motion in NHL ? From what I see here the player slightly kicks the puck with his skate in order to control it, but then fails to deflect it with the stick and the puck just slides into the goal. Am I missing something ?
A joke.
We've seen this be a goal a million times before. Players always open their blade and are allowed to redirect with the skate, but cannot kick the puck in. This is in line with every allowed goal. However, it's DET and the gambling companies know what Bettman wants.
Ohh didn't know it was wes, well that explains things, that and somebody better check with John Gibsons bookie on that big dumb dumb net push. Would've been a game had it not been for those two plays.
How about Seider not whiff on that sheesh
Wes thinks the game is about him, that was a good redirect goal
Unbelievable, all his weight was on that leg trying to slow down and stop 😂 he probably couldn't have kicked it if he tried…but either way I've never seen a zero kicking motion goal overturned that's crazy! Rigged game.
I thought a distinct kicking motion required the skate to come off the ice. He definitely pointed his left toe forward to make contact but the rule was never intended to prevent skate redirects. It was to prevent players from taking dangerous skate blades through the air like soccer players.
Awful call.
I'm just a dude with four kids/wife who's always used sports to decompress. The last couple years between what seems like blatant fixing at times or the fact these dudes can now make a billion dollars while our cable bills are now hundreds of dollars and taxes pay for stadiums/upgrades im about done. Let alone seeing how some college coaches being let go owed 50 million is on taxes as well if the school can't find boosters to pay. I'm just tired. Even my wife lately has been like WTH is going on almost every game we watch. Just like our NBA team we watch our dudes perfect on challenges this year hasn't lost one. How is that even possible. Don't get me started on the last challenge he won and they found a new foul in the background they made up to still give free throws. This skate thing is absurd and never should of been overturned
Seen this exact thing hundreds of times. Cool kill sports I'm not paying anymore 300 bucks to sit in nosebleeds anyhow. My wife won't even let me take our boys to the football game cause they always have drunken fistfights anyways
There was no ‘kicking motion.’ 😡
Very very bad call.
