The reality of the new NHL is that you're not going to keep all of your core players for their entire careers. The way you win now is draft and develop well, and constantly have guys coming up from the prospect pool to replace players who are up for big contracts. Maybe you keep 2 or 3 of your top end guys, like Hughes, Pettersson and Hronek. But after that, you have to look for deals, move on from other big contracts (trading them away so you accrue assets) and have players like Lekkerimakki, D Petey and Willander coming up to replace more expensive veterans. Colorado did it right and got a little lucky when they resigned MacKinnon to a big contract – after they'd won a Stanley Cup. You'll never see a team like the 1994 New York Rangers win a Cup ever again in this scenario because you need young players on ELC contributing significantly to be successful. You can't just overpay veterans for one final run. Put the big money in 2-3 guys, and focus on surrounding them with players who will hopefully over-perform on their contracts.
Given the fact the 4 nations face-off will probably lessen the time in which to make a deadline trade, one should not be surprised to see a trade with Boeser real soon. That said because he is not on the American team, that tournament should not be a big factor. My guess is the Canucks do not want to pay the Brock Star anywhere near what he can get in the free agent market, my guess is they low ball him and trade him before the deadline. They may actually be looking to package him up with Milsy to make a trade that works for the team and doesn't tank it for this season. I could see Suter and Lankinen moved at the deadline as well. Seems a little quiet at this point in the trade deadline season for these players to not get moved. Still don't think the Milsy trade is "imminent", they are just not getting any real offers, just a bunch of Jackals thinking they are going to get Milsy for free. They ain't.
From what I have read about the situation, JT Miller is drawing a bunch of attention around the league from every team not named the Canucks. Rangers, Hurricanes, and several others want him. Boeser I have been reading is leaning towards signing with Minnesota in the offseason, Minnesota also wants him in a trade, However Wild don’t have the cap unless Vancouver retains some. Brock Nelson (Islanders) is drawing a ton of interest from a few western conference teams, most notably Dallas and Minnesota. He plans to sign with Minnesota Wild in the offseason according to his agent.
Trade him to CBJ
they dont care!
knucks always sucked last 10 seasons
Yes brock has definitely changed losing his dad really put a kink in his game not to mention the blood clot issue he had last year
I’ve honestly never liked boeser that much. So slow, hard to watch.
What is miss minutes Doing in the thumbnail😂😂 are we in a branched timeline right now where the Canucks suck?
I like Boeser but hes defensively liabilty, hes a minus ten as is Miller. They both need to be traded to get some defensive help and Joshua type players to fit Tochetts coaching style.
Boser, prover what a "Team Player" he was when he turned down his call up because he wanted his team to remain a contender. There can be No questioning Brock's cherecter He's among the best of them. Also insisting that You Need to keep Petterson is just pure copium, Noone whants that fragile ego at superstar pay 🤣
In response to the title of the video, time is also running out for the Canucks to turn their season around.
I hope Boeser goes to Minnesota he deserves a good team
I kinda wish the Habs would get him, but with Caufield, Laine, Slaf & Demidov next year not gonna work
Hope he lands somewhere where his talent is welcomed
Boeser is not a play driver because Miller demands the puck
i think everyone can go except for quinn
Boeser & Miller ain’t goin anywhere
