  1. Mantha reminds me of a Kevin Hayes with slightly…slightly? better hands. Mostly with how he moves slowly around all zones. Listing lazily.

  2. The second line is a problem, and not because of Geno.

I’m hoping these two vets are in so that they increase their trade value

  3. Mantha has 146 goals in 507 games. So he averaged 24 goals per 82 played.
His consistency with scoring isn't the problem. It's his availability. Out of the seven 82-game format seasons he's partaken in, he's played more than 67 games twice.
He's missed 202 games. Shave off whatever the number of games is that he was healthy-scratched for. That's your games lost to injury.

He's a good player. His durability can't be relied on at all though. And he's just coming off a big surgery.

  4. Yeah it's always been expensive as hell in Manhattan. My old man was paying $2500 a month in the mid 80's for a place which was nice (yet nothing special)

  5. Just a little change…in my opinion I would prefer to see Rakell play with Malkin when Rust gets back and put Rust with Sid. Just because I think that right now Rakell has been playing better than Rust…I think Malkin’s line can use all the help it can get. We know Sid and Rust play well together and Sid will make whoever plays on his line look good. I just don’t know if Rust would elevate the 2nd line as much as Rakell right now.

And at any time you know you can put Rakell and Rust on the top line and go back to having one of the best top lines in the NHL. I suppose that would put Malkin Mantha and Koivunen together on the 2nd line, which I would also be interested to see lol.

  6. Dan – I really appreciate your coverage and your great analysis each game and season (even off-season). Good luck this season, and I am very happy for PHN and their success! Your hard work has been paying off, and I love your work ethic! Super perspectives on this season and what we should look for….. hopefully the Pens will insert the young guys to let them finish where they need to be to get what they desperately need for the future.
