What would you do with mason Lohrei?
Lohrei is going to be a star in 3-4 years
His defense wasn't working under Sacco and Monte. He is too soft and lost as a defenseman. He should be playing offense. He looks like he needs a map. He should be in Providence to learn defense.
Trade him. I don’t have a lot of patience for offensive Dmen who are rarely more than bottom pairing power play specialists. Trade him for someone who can score goals. Lohrei reminds me of Dennis Wideman, and trading him for Horton paid dividends.
Super slow at work today. So happy to see this!
Not sure what the implications are of Lohrei taking up a roster spot. While spending the next 3 months more focused on improving his defense rather than playing. But might be a good investment if it can tilt the skew towards more reward, less risk from him in back-end of the season.
You are reading my mind. Stole my thunder. He should be moved to the wing or the center position.
I am also rooting for anyone and everyone to increase their trade value.
Mason Lohrei costs you too many goals against. For a team that expects to win tight 2-1 or 3-2 games, you can't afford a guy who costs you a goal against almost every game. Either you sit him if you try to make the playoffs or forget about the playoffs and play him.
Offensively he's fine. But defensively he's a black hole. He's in his 3rd year and his defensive game hasn't gotten any better. This team is a few seasons away from contending again so move him for future assets.
Yep. It's been obvious. The B's are not good enough to be able to afford the luxury of having a defenseman (Lohrei) who cannot play defense. If they were a high scoring team, they might. But not the way this team is currently built. What should they do with him? As they can't send him to Providence, and trading him doesn't get you much, they should glue Lohrei to Chara, and have Chara spend extra on-ice hours with him every day teaching him to be a defenseman. They hired Chara to be a mentor. Let him "ment."
First of all – Lohrei sucks. Kidding 🙂 but someone had to say it. I have no idea what can get him going defensively but I really hope that it can be a good coaching now that he sits out on games.
As for the 15 games mark I don't think that it says anything (at least in our division) other than that the Canadiens are rocking it this season. I know statistically it can be saying a lot but I feel like aynthing can happen this year because the rest of the teams are so close to each other pointwise.
Anyway I have a question for you. In case we are somewhere near the bottom of the table and we decide to trade our 2nd line guys what would you expect in return? How do you not end up with the same 2nd liners about to be traded the next year?
Personally, the B’s defense isn’t great but they’re holding their own. Lohrei has great offensive skills. I just don’t know why they just don’t keep him as a forward to help offensively. They don’t have a lot in scorers. Get rid of Viel and or Kuraly. Something tells me that if they trade Lohrei the team that gets him will keep him as a forward he will flourish and the fans will be highly upset and that may be Sweeney’s final downfall.
Loheri doesn't fit on a team with a mediocre d core
Teams know Lohrie now. They know his faults they lick there chops when Lohrie is on the ice its so obvious
The Bruins making the playoffs is very unlikely just Pastrnak, Geekie, Elias Lindholm, and Zadorov are keepers everyone else should be available.
The team just isn't very good at all. Your assessment is spot on.
Trade deadline they sell some players and build through the draft and trades.
I think you can be bold and say more than Swayman isn't that bad lol. He's played really well considering all of the defensive problems you break down in this video. If anything, he has kept the Bruins in a lot of games.
But I kind of agree. I hope they just trade him to a team where he can go win vezinas and cups and not have to listen to fans complain about his contract for the next 7 years.
Appreciate your analysis Court. For me, McAvoy is the most overrated guy on the team. He's not a Nr 1 D pair on any other team. He takes horrible penalties. Contributes little offense. When you factor in his Cap hit, he's the equivalent of Lohrei. Doesnt kill penalties. Lindholm is significantly better than McAvoy.
In addition to his simple and effective defensive play, Aspirot has also brought a physicality and meanness to the lineup that I like.
