  1. Shouldn't he simply be awarded a goal if he has an empty net and the goalie throws his stick?

  2. The rules should be changed imo. The net is functionally empty, so this should be an awarded goal instead of a penalty shot. But alas the rulebook only cares if the goalie is actually off the ice or not

  3. I know it isn't the rule currently, but if the goalie throws their stick from outside the crease it should be an automatic goal

  4. Relax y'all, he's a rookie goalie. Obviously he will throw a stick and hinder himself. He even knocks the net of on purpose.

  5. Yup! Throw the stick = penalty shot.
Maybe it should be an awarded goal though, for cases like this.

  6. He was fouled with no goalie in net, shouldn't it be a shot on an empty net (or just award the goal)?

  7. Never be a goal if the puck doesn't go over the line thats good, but i really think it should be penalty shot + 2 minutes in the box. Only because of throwing the stick.

  8. When the net is open and someone throws stick shpuld be either a penalty shot on open net or automatic goal

  9. The goalie was completely out as position. A penalty shot was a gift to the Penguins who could have avoided a sure goal.

  10. An almost guaranteed goal or a penalty shot on Silovs. I'm.. not sure there is a difference.

  11. I think plays like that the rules should be changed to either be an automatic goal or a penalty shot and a 2 min power play. You have to create sone reason why it can't benefit the player to break the rules. Man is Connor wicked. The skills these guys have is just amazing. People that haven't played don't grasp how hard
It is to switch to your backhand and that close to the net with that speed lift the puck over the goalie into the top of the net.

  12. They should have played him in the final game vs Canada in the Four Nations championship game. Scratch the injured Tkachuk.

  13. The fact the the goalie even got a penalty shot was lucky. NHL rules state that if a thrown stick prevents a goal, it is an awarded goal.
