Brent Burns comes up with the game winning goal, feeding off a three-point night for Martin Necas as Colorado takes down the man in Vegas to become the man in the Western Conference. Makar and Nelson also notched goals in the 4 – 2 win.

Many, many Marti Parties to come…..maybe a couple of them featuring a big silver bowl for the punch.
Great resilience when not much went your way between ridiculous hockey god luck on that ludicrous Marner goal,& Terry Rozier apparently showing up to officiate & give Vegas 6 PPs to basically 1.1 for us. And as I said before the game-whatever happened today,& tomorrow-the smarter move in theory was to learn from NJs mistake with starting Markstrom at Ball instead of waiting til they got to SJ.. Sharks are a talented young offensive & capable team. This isn't impotent SJ of past seasons.Especially at home-they should be tougher-like most young teams.
It's totally possible they could light Blackwood up tomorrow if he's rusty or AVS are asleep. But on paper playing him tomorrow gives Blackwood a better shot to knock off the rust,& get off to a fast start. Or AVS finding a way to win a goal fest is far more likely in SJ than Vegas vs a far superior & experienced team. The teams best chance at point(s) today wasn't to throw him in immediately vs probably the deepest offensive team in the NHL-even though both teams had a few guys out. And now even if he's rusty,& gets lit on fire in his 1st game in 6 months-no biggie cuz ya won the more important game today.
But overall-Avs are now the last NHL team with only 1 REAL loss with Vegas regulation loss. Pretty damn impressive-7 wins, only 1 loss,& 4 quasi ties in 12 games vs a pretty tough October schedule. NJ twice,Utah twice,Dallas,Carolina,Vegas,& LA were 8 of your 12 games,& you finished 4-0-4 in those 8 games. And honestly probably deserved regulation wins in 3 of those 4 OT losses.(exception probably being at NJ) You outplayed Carolina,& Dallas-& Landy had a legal goal stolen in Utah. To be fair-Utah probably deserved better here in Denver when Wedgewood kinda stole it.
But all things considered you couldn't ask for a better start to the season resultwise-or really big picture processwise. In fact before the season-you really couldn't even ask for as good as ya got. And all things considered-today was as impressive as any win any NHL team has had so far this yr. Not a huge deal in the macro-ya can't take too much out of it. But they all count the same,& the resilience they showed when most the things they can't control went against them,vs a great team,& in a very tough arena DOES MATTER somewhat more big picture than merely 2 points in a long season.
Burns had to tip in that Marner shot to make sure he got the gwg
SMASH THAT LIKE DORKS!
