Hirsch: Canucks’ Juolevi might not be ready for NHL this season

NHL insider Corey Hirsch discusses his take on the Vancouver Canucks rookie tourney, who’s standing out, who’s flying under the radar, and who might not be quite ready for the NHL.

  1. Juolevi is good everywhere but his backward skating speed. He gets caught flat footed a lot, been noticing it for 2 years now in junior. He's obviously good in other areas, but if your coach can't rely on your basic defence there's no chance of you sticking in the nhl.

  2. When the Canucks realize that they could have had William Nylander or Nikolai Ehlers & Mikhail Sergachev or Matthew Tkachuk or Charlie McAvoy instead of Virtanen & Juolevi.

  3. I mean, he looked pretty horrendous getting walked by worse players. But this is not Olli. He plays way better than this. I liked what Corey said about having a junior kid on your wing being harder. Oh well, he had a solid game vs the Oil. Needs to dominate somewhere first. He hasn't dominated like Sergachev, McAvoy, Chychrun.
