  1. They played terribly for the first 40 and thankfully got a point, but the schedule definitely didn’t benefit them. We’re gonna have every single team in the league play on one night as a big spectacle for our sport, and to kick it off it’s a big rivalry at 6 pm! But oops, the visiting team played at 7 pm last night and the home team is well rested, so invariably that skews the results. Wonderful planning to display the actual “better team”

  2. 3/4 losses are when Brunicke held out, one of them Kindel was also out of the lineup. They are much less dynamic without the kids…

  3. To be totally objective, kindel definitely deserves to stay he has to, bruinke honestly in my opinion hasn’t played well enough to stay in my opinion but I’d rather have him than dumba anyday so there’s that.

  4. The reason why they got even to shoutout was because Silovs played a great game in a goal and saved 32 out of 34 shots. Blaming Goalie for the shoutout loss while the reason you got that point is because he saved you from having 0 points IMO is just ungreatfull for what you got. You can say he could have gotten you 2 points instead of 1, but having the 1 point and than saying we lost because of you is just straight up a lie. You can also say every player who shot at the shoutout and missed lost the game for penguins also.

  5. If they send kids down, you lose youngsters energy what team need and especially older veterans players. Not reasonable play with this factor.

  6. The more I follow their plan for these kids the more it seems like they are really trying to get bruinke to play in better scenarios because they want to keep him up. Outside of one game bruinke really hasn't been anything but a liability because he is being to fancy, this alone shows he needs to stay because those habits will only get worse in the WHL.

  7. This seemed like the first game Muse got out coached. He's been doing great to start the year but it seems he is leaning wayyy to much on the vets like Sullivan did, and when they looked as lazy as yesterday they should not be rewarded, the pp1 unit killed momentum. Calling the TO in OT is a prime example.

  8. Yup, that was a tough game to watch. A Sid goal, that deflected off a defenseman and over the goalie in their own net is how we tied it up later in the 3rd. Lucky!! Then overtime, and with our guys in 3 on 3 I always LOVE our chances…..but very much like the 60 mins Karlsson played without interest. IE. He lazily tried to fling his stick out as a defensive move after letting the puck by him, then skates back, is mad at the refs and smashes his stick on the net. So, in OT just didn't see EK #65, period. The first intermission Mark Messier said "Karlsson's lack of effort needs to be addressed. He's put alot of pressure on a rookie coach to say something or he may lose respect of the older players on this team. That is the position he put his coach and team in!" And then shook his head in disappointment. Now so far this year his efforts have been great, and look at the results!!! Malkin seemed up and down. When the team plays very much this way it's such a reminder of last year……we need the kids. We need their energy!! We need youth who will "..just play!" Blessings, Victor from Canada 🇨🇦

  9. I’ve given up on the Steelers this year. I’m holding out hope for the Pens I really hope we keep Kindel at the least.

  10. If they send them to the WHL I’m going to flip my shit. This has been such a happy season – I was loving and leaning into your optimism all off-season. Now I know we are in the midst of what will be a successful and important in penguins history and we can’t afford to lose these valuable years of developing these guys at the Pro level surrounded by successful play.

They are going to learn more from Crosby Malkin Karlsson Letang and Muse than they ever will in f@&$ing JUNIORS.

  11. The kids need to be here. Let them learn what it is like being a class professional and leader from Sidney Crosby. They are the future of the franchise so let them see on a daily basis what it means to be a leader at the NHL level. I don’t think we have our next franchise player yet to carry on the Lemieux -> Crosby -> ? chain, but they can only benefit from getting to play with a legend.

  12. that was a garbage OT. Those refs screwed everything
Nothing irks me more than losing to the stupid Cryers 🙄
that 76-0-2 record is insane and I reject it.

  13. You guys really need to lay off the heat on junior hockey. If it weren't for junior hockey, there would have been no development league for the NHL decades ago. The CHL was the golden ticket for NHL players at one time. I understand the argument for the individual player. Skill and financial. But the bigger picture is that what you want (taking players not quite ready for the NHL from their junior teams) would result in risking the end of junior hockey altogether and depleting future NHL talent as a whole. The NHL needs junior hockey, or there would be less talent coming to the NHL. There would be fewer kids in Canada playing hockey or having a competitive place to play when they get near their NHL draft year. Whether you like it or not, Canadians still drive the bulk of the talent. If you reduce that, you don't improve the NHL. Kids want great talent to look up to, and they will be much bigger heroes and role models on their junior team than their AHL team. Maybe think of it as paying it back to the league they grew up watching and playing for, because yes, Canadian kids dreamed of playing in the CHL and have their CHL local heroes they idolize. Myself being one of those kids many years ago.

  14. DK – This team is clearly better when both Kidnel and Brunicke in the lineup. You don't have to be an expert to see the difference. I know Sid doesn't make decisions here, but I have to think he won't be very happy if they're sent back given how well the team is doing.

  15. Letang stopped playing on multiple plays. One that gave a break away up in the 3rd period…. He just looks over it

  16. The penguins right now are doing well. Probably can't maintain quite this level throughout the season but definitely could remain competitive. Unless you send the rookies away then we are doomed

  17. What nothing about Karlsson?
He should be a scratch next game. He’s attitude is unacceptable!

  18. The stat that concerns me is the disparity in shots on goal. It seems every game theyre getting shot over 10+. It hasnt fried them yet, but at the halfway point, fatigue starts to take effect and more water starts to leak through the damage. Its only natural that the team with more shots tends to win the game, and its surprising that the Penguins have been able to hold off the barrage thus far.

  19. Thank you DK. I agree DK. The only way their going to learn, is play. It's not an instant thing it takes time. I wouldn't count them out. Great show DK

  20. sending the teens to juniors would be crazy. they can watch from the press box and practice with sid/geno if you think they aren’t ready. gotta keep them even if it hurts us this season. brunicke looks just as good in terms of puck movement and speed as karlsson. they both need seasoning that they will not get in canada

  21. They HAVE TO stay. Their shear speed and energy are absolutely needed. They pick this team up, and provide the spark that gets us through the tough matchups. In the same way that our fourth line has now become an untouchable force with Dewar, Acciari, and Lizotte, we need a combination of Brunicke, Pickering, and Kindel in the lineup at all times.

  22. pens used to be so automatic in shootouts when it was flower in net, and peak letang, sid, geno going. feels like an eternity ago now.

  23. With the betting scandal going on, I was wondering if they included Karlsson. That was the a performance worthy of Graves.

  24. It's a tough call. Kindel isn't producing at nearly the rate he could or will at some point. But the WHL won't help. Brunicke hasn't played especially well outside of a couple of games, but I agree with you that the WHL presents regression risk. In their current situations, I feel like they have to stay. I suspect they won't.

  25. I was so pissed at Malkin for his stupid penalty costing them the game I turned it off right after the Flyer's goal in OT. Couldn't;t figure out why DK said they lost in a shootout when they lost in OT and nobody commented that it wasn't a shootout. I was going to comment and correct DK but then I read that the Flyers goal was disallowed. Guess I shouldn't have turned it off 🤥

  26. 2nd in the league baby let’s keep on rolling, also we have a floor of 4th if Vegas wins one and Carolina wins 2, LGP!

  27. Pens players in the final year of their contract:
Forwards: Mantha, Malkin, Dewar, Liztotte, Koivunen, Acciari, Tomasino, and Kevin Hayes
    Defensemen: Shea, Dumba, and Clifton
    Goaltender: Blomqvist, and Silovs

Who do you resign? Who do you trade?
