New York Islanders’ Ilya Sorokin scored the 20th goalie goal in NHL history (18 regular season, 2 postseason). He became the second Islanders netminder to be credited with a goal, following Billy Smith (Nov. 28, 1979) who was the first goaltender in NHL history to find the goal column.

Wow even including the technicalities/own goals there are still so few. I didn't realize it was quite this rare

I was at the game in 97 when Brodeur scored against Montreal in the playoffs. I wasn't sure what was more impressive – the goal, or how high he could jump could jump in full skates an pads.
