St. Louis SWEEP — Larkin’s 3pt night and the 4th line’s dominace lifts Detroit past Blues

The Red Wings played their first GOOD road game of the season, beating the Blues 5-2 in St. Louis. Dylan Larkin had a 3pt night, and the 4th line dominated. Other goals came from Soderblom, Chiarot and DeBrincat. Carter Mazur is hurt again, and Nate Danielson playing great in GR. #LGRW

  1. We need some Vegas, Colorado, Dallas games to even begin to judge. Boys need to play smart and safe. Need some actual dubs.

  2. That Hamonic fight was perfect timing. Hamonic took the captain and goal scorer off the ice and the momentum changed for the wings after that fight. Maybe Rasmussen can learn a thing or two from the old veteran.

  3. If Ben had his stick on the ice, He would have stopped the First goal. If Mo Would have been strong on his stick, He would have prevented the pass the Scored on the second goal.

  4. so if the label is hard to shed why are you even talking about it? hes day to day and this is probably cover for a move to join the team on the road trip and hes not really even injured

  5. After this game, I see now that MBN wasn’t sent down for anything he did. He was sent down cuz there’s no good players left to put with him. He’ll be back when Danielson and Buchelnikov are ready to play with him.

3rd line was the only line that looked bad this game. They got stuck in their own zone most of the game. Any time they made it to offense they lost it immediately cuz no MBN leading the rush, making big hits, and winning puck battles. I see now why he was losing confidence. Glad he gets to play with Danielson now and get that synergy going early.

  6. If we’re going to be fair, you have to mention chiarot not picking up his man on their first goal. Yes the rebound shouldn’t be there to be begin with but you gotta ride your man better than that.

  7. Idk if mentioned, but Kasper is fast as fuck on the ice lmao. I rewatched his 'run' from behind our goalie, took off and ended in a damnnear 1 on 1 with St Louis Goalie. Mf just took off past everybodyyyyy. Even the Blues on the other side of the ice seemingly were like "oh fUCK" as he skated by

  8. 4th line was spectacular tonight, and you could tell by how much they were put out there in the 3rd period. They played physical and controlled the puck in the offensive zone. Very impressive by those 3. I do worry about foot speed with that line against teams like the sharks and ducks, but that’s a big heavy line with some scoring touch. AlJo continues to be very impressive and has looked like our 2nd best dman this season. Nice to see the team sticking up for ASP after a couple hits. Gibson continues to make big saves and be a very calming presence in net. One concern though is edvinsson, he’s looked a little out of sorts so far this year. Not terrible, but making some mistakes in his own end. Great win, let’s see if they can keep it rolling. LGRW

  9. Kasper isn't scoring right now, but he's winning puck battles, getting to loose pucks and getting to the front of the net… he's going to score in bunches when the chances start coming off his play

  10. Scott I have those exact same 4 banners in that lineup in my garage… THought you were filming from there a second.

  11. This year, the team is playing more defensively, which I really like.
PK doesn't seem so timid anymore, and all four players are focused and defending well.
Last year, you had the feeling that everyone already knew there would be a goal against us.
Seider and Ed looked good, but then again there was the 4:2, cocky play by Seider. Hope he gets back on track soon. Just show Todd some of Seider's rookie highlights.

  12. I struggle staying up with The Wings playing in the west when games start at 10 or 10:30 during the week. Unless they are in playoffs for the Staley Cup for sure.

  13. If they continue playing with urgency and aggression like they did in the 3rd, they’re setting themselves up for success each game. Can’t take their foot off the gas. Loved seeing them winning so many puck battles too.

  14. Healthy scratch Rasmussen immediately and bring up Danielson!!! I'm so sick of watching him bumble fuck his way through games. Maybe they'd have to waive him for cap reasons, unsure on that part.

  15. It looks like the boys are buying into McClellan’s system. And it’s working. They’ve had some bumps, the 3 loses save 1 were blowouts – this is them working out old habits.

This game started off with a old habit, but they course corrected quickly. The fight was a savvy vet move by Hamonic to get his team into the game. Good to see.
