I disagree Ryan, it's on the player for his lows not to be down right horrendous, that player E.Bouchard, needs to take accountability for his play. It's not his coaches fault, it's not his mom's fault it's his damn fault. Knob if anything should sit this player down, give him a view from up top for a game. Won't have to worry about EB playing in the Olympics that ship has sailed.
Goaltending aside, the biggest hole on the team right now is on defence…. That being defensemen that can actually play defence. Trade him for a big tough oak tree that can defend, seriously. Walman can run the PP.
I DO NOT agree with Rishaug. If that rationale were correct, Bouchard would be on Canada's team. So there are enough strong 'coaching' personalities in Canada who view Bouchard as a RISK, as a not trustworthy entity to have on your team. That has nothing to do with regular season or playoffs. And I dislike that all Edmonton media makes this argument of Bouch being some "Makar' comes the playoffs. HE IS NOT! if he were, Panthers would not have WALKED all over us for 2 years in a row. Want exact details? Game 6 in Florida, the whole slaughtering of the Oilers was INITIATED by Bouchard turning over a puck 3m in front of Stuart and Marchand or whomever scoring on Skinner. So, where is the Playoff Bouch? No idea!
Put Walman in Bouchard's shoes over last few years and he would also have the offense stats of Bouch, bouch is not some offensive genious, it is his role on the PP and playing with 2 best players in the world that brought Bouch the stats. Many other defenders would have those numbers, were they playing with McDrai. Think of Makar or Quinn, they would have considerably MORE points than Bouch. FACT.
I like to see Stauff being 'emotional' about the Oilers mistakes and Adam Foot good in-game adjustments. If Stauffer is criticizing Bouchard, it means ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Enough should be for all Oilers, for all media, for Knoblauch and Bowman, and take some action to SPEAK and DEMAND discipline from Bouchard, Nurse, etc. And address goaltending

Yup, Bouchard can be a great player but he's been playing some of his worst hockey this season and he single-handedly lost games. Thea coaches need to do a better job playing their other lines. They can't keep playing McDavid and Draisaitl 25 minutes every game. Sometimes they just don't show up, they just look at the break away and don't even bother skating back. That's not exactly great for morale.
Play the other guys more. Bench Bouchard for a bit and make the Walman/Nurse line the 1st line until Bouchard earns it back. Nurse had a hell of a game.
Agree with you about Leadership not playing up to their level. But you cannot take yourselves out of it (Rishaug, Struds, Stauff, Oilersnation, ALL-MEDIA in Edmonton, Knoblauch, Bowman, Jackson, …) and put it ONLY on McDrai! They are as frustrated as all fans about Bouch, Nurse and Goal-Tending, the three factors that TOOK their chance to a cup in last two years. What do YOU PERSONALLY DO about it? BoB,Ryan I agree with parts of your discussion. Let's look back to the glory days when Glen Sather had control. There was a bit of equality within the team on who did what and most of all salaries. The PP is worth 40 mil. today and the contracts are longer. Management has to get back to basics. Bouchard is going to cost this team lots. Skinner well don't know. He has his moments. Bob I like the conversation with Ryan with topics chosen and I hope there is pressure on Bouchard to wake up or move him as the team did with Jack Campbell. I don't want to wait till after xmas.

ANd by January if he doesn't improve, then… Why weren't the same WORDS and LOGIC applied then last January? Skinner is CONSTANTLY bad for years (other than you guys not admitting to it). Carter Hart was available. Stolarz was available. Ulmark was available. Binnington was available before STL hired new coach last year! Etc, etc. There is no clear vision and understanding in the leadership/coaching about how bad is the impact of Skinner's mistakes on this TEAM.

I keep saying over and over this coach that we have here doesn't have the balls.And that's why this team is where it is too soft of a coach.We can't have that kind of coach.Players are gonna take advantage of it.That's my opinion, and i've been saying that since they hired this coach is a joke, is not a coach, is a junior coach.He's not an a NHL coach
Its weird to say that goaltending is issue 7 or 8 for us right now. We have so many things to clean up. Bouch is a big one. Where is McDavid? How many times did he just skate into the other teams players and give up the puck? Hes not himself and no one can tell me he is. Leon is lazy. He stands around too much. Our defense is absolutely awful other than Walman. WE DONT HAVE AN IDENTITY Our stars need to be so much better, if it weren't for our depth wed be shutout nightly.
