HALTED Utah Mammoth’s SEVEN GAME Win Streak ENDS in Devastating 6 3 Loss

Utah Mammoth’s seven-game win streak crashes to a halt in Edmonton, but is a 3-1 road trip against Central Division rivals the real story? The Oilers exploded for five goals in a catastrophic second period, exposing defensive vulnerabilities when Connor McDavid and company turned up the pressure.

Tom Callahan and Robyn Leaño break down how Utah dominated the opening frame before Edmonton scored identical goals just 37 seconds apart. The hosts analyze game flow charts and heat maps revealing defensive breakdowns, discuss Karel Vejmelka’s performance under siege, and examine why this young team struggles to recover when momentum shifts. With crucial wins over St. Louis, Minnesota, and Winnipeg already secured, the road trip success offers genuine playoff hope despite the Edmonton setback.

Utah faces an unusual stretch of Eastern Conference opponents starting Sunday against Tampa Bay’s veteran squad and John Cooper’s Hall of Fame-caliber coaching. Can the Mammoth maintain their divisional dominance while learning to weather adversity against elite competition?

  1. What did you think about the extra defense for the Oilers? Apparently they do that a very low percentage of the time. Trying to match what the Mammoth do against them?🤔 Hmmm… curious. Good road trip, go Mammoth!

  2. What do yall think is the main reason for the 2nd period naps? Is it a psychological thing with the players? Is it a game planning/strategy issue? Is it just us getting out-coached/played? It’s been an issue for a while, once is a mistake, but after multiple games/seasons it’s a trend and a pattern.

  3. Cooley Extended! Lets go get Schmaltz next!
Question for yall: Would you make a player for player trade with Calgary, Barrett Hayton for Nazem Kadri? I saw Graviteh talk about it yesterday and was intrigued.

  4. I am going to disagree a bit on not blaming the goalie. Rebound control and awareness of where the opposition players are on the ice is essential for good goaltending. I know it is not always possible to control where a rebound goes on a surprise shot but I think on the two identical goals Veggie could have done a better job not kicking the puck out right to an Oilers player.

Also it goes with what you have been saying about managing the peaks and valleys: the sign of whether this team is taking the next step or not is if they can make sure this loss does not become a losing streak. Last year, one loss would turn into three. If they can avoid that this year then they have arrived!
