What happen to Mike Milbury Thursdays?
His system would work better if over half of their roster weren't overpaid 3rd/4th liners and backup goalies.
As I recall, Marchand was looking for a 4-year contract. Panthers gave him 6 in order to flatten the cap hit, obviously. As I understand it, it's front loaded. They may also have made an agreement to buy him out at a certain point; older players receive 2/3 of amount owing in such a case. So if he retires after 4 years, with a buyout, that will amount to about $7.333/yr for 4 years played.
First off, they are severely overpaying Swayman. He’s not deserving of the contract they gave him. He’s a backup at best. One partial season as a tandem with Uulmark and they put all their eggs in his basket and he has proven that he’s not worth the money. Zacha disappears every playoff since he’s been in a Bruins jersey. Sweeney is a fucking idiot and has no clue what he’s doing. They will remain bottom dwellers for the foreseeable future.
no way. he’s out of position all the time
So, they're still doing the POC (proof of concept) on the system, yeah? Well, then- best with that! Of course, a few more losses and another losing streak and…you're almost out. Let's be straight up- you don't have the forwards to compete & your lopsided investment in defense is not paying off. (And it didn't last year.) The rest is empty words and rhetorics…for whatever that's worth. 🤨
Lohrei cant play NHL defense. Jokiharu is a C grade NHL player. Peeke is C+ and McAvoy is a B. The defense was overrated, but Sweeney and Neely had to lean on that narrative preseason because the offense isn't good. Sweeney likes to sign mediocre defensemen that are #6 or #7 in the lineup for 3 -5 year deals
Please, Please bring back Mike Milbury, in all fairness to Judd, he can't be too critical or honest working for NESN, I appreciated Mike's honest assessment of the team. He was also funny.
I thought I would have a good assessment of Boston and after 10 games but I still don't
Anyone who blames the goaltending doesn't know a thing about hockey. If you put the best goalie in the history of hockey behind this defense, he will look bad. Swayman was the number one star vs Colorado, Korpisalo was the number one star vs the Islanders. Your goalie can't be the number one every night in order to win a game. This has to be the worst defense that the Bruins have put out there in 30 years.
Maccavoy is the guy alright, the guy who is the most overrated defenseman in this league. He gets $9.2 million and has been playing like an average defenseman at best.
Once again, Sweeney spent the offseason losing good players, and overpaying 30yr old players who never put up 10 goals in a season. Now they need to get younger and faster again.
