  1. Kraken injuries are holding back the full potential of what they’ll be, but the coaching staff for Seattle is fantastic. It’s a system most of those players really thrive in as a defensive first system.

About the 3 goal tenders, while I’m not a huge fan of it, I get it. Management explained this earlier in the season that because of the heavily condensed schedule in January with the Olympics in February, we’d need 3 goalies to rotate.

  2. Another W for the Pens and another 3-point night for Sid, and a 2-point night for Geno.

Malkin is now tied for the league lead in scoring, and Crosby is 2 points back, and 1 off the league lead in goals.

  3. I think Detroit will miss the playoffs again and people here in Detroit people are gonna go wild if we don’t make it again

  4. So, if I am understanding the advanced stats correctly, Detroit has had a lot of bad luck but still has a really good record. The other three teams have had good starts, but have also been very lucky so far.

So, if luck returns to mean over a larger sample of games, Detroit should actually improve while the other three teams should weaken.

  5. Rakell being on the shelf definitely hurts, but I think you really see the fresh air Kindel, Brunicke, and Hallander have been, as well as the belief you have to think seeing all these young guys pushing for jobs has helped the current roster. Combine that with guys like brazzeau, wotherspoon, and mantha either getting bigger roles or the chance to rebound their careers too has all gone a long way to better supporting what Crosby, Malkin, and Rust have been doing. Malkin having some actual nhl caliber wingers has paid strong dividends out of the gate and I thought all along just having help would allow him back in the 75+ point area like he was prior to last year. If this goaltending holds at a 2+ GSA I think the rest of the team is good enough to continue to stack wins. It has certainly been a fun start to the year and again still has the excitement of what these young kids all continue to develop into at the nhl level.

  6. Muse has figured out how to get the most out of Malkin. He plays so much better when he's fresh. Muse has actually cut his ice time and is putting him out in situations where he will be attacking more than defending, so malkin has his legs when he's out there. Hopefully he'll be able to keep it up because his line looks very very good

  7. As a Pens fan, watching them, they look terrible 95% of the time. But the other 5% they somehow score like 4 goals in 10 minutes and win the game. Sid and Geno are carrying them and if they start playing poorly or get hurt I don’t see them continuing their success

  8. Love this content. Watching you every day of hockey season for 2 years now. That's all. Have a good day Shan

  9. I wonder if the perception of Seattle is playing into how teams are preparing to play us. At some point, if this keeps going, teams will have to take us more seriously. That's what I'm most curious to see.

  10. Wings are overachieving against teams that are basically in pre-season mode still. Wings are trying their hardest, while Florida, Edmonton, and Toronto are laying low until playoff time

  11. With the league approaching real parity and promoting young players I believe you can take the 'AS AT' Standings on October 31 and expect the same positioning for each team on the last day of the season.

The incidence of injury should also be comparable for the season.

There will be tight races in each division/conference this year.

  12. The biggest key for the Penguins is that second line keeping this pace up. Whether it be better chemistry or Geno getting his mojo back, these guys are buzzing and are arguably more dangerous than Sid's line right now. Obviously the goaltending needs to stay hot too, don't need to see any of that bad Jarry we saw a lot last year.

  13. I'd like to see the same video again after 40 and 80 games, regardless of where these 4 teams are in the standings then. It could be an interesting series.

  14. As a Wings fan, not trusting anything until we get to March. Because we’ve been in playoff spots in the past few years going into March and then fell apart like a cheap suit.

  15. Love my wings so far but we still look fragile defending in our own zone. I don’t get why this team refuses to make the simple play to relieve pressure. Use the boards or flip it out. Instead they, more often than not, go for some cute play to break out of the zone or retreat backwards cycling the puck behind their net. They are constantly getting trapped in their zone which usually leads to a goal against or a penalty. Very frustrating to watch. Just relieve the pressure and regroup.

  16. Not trusting Detroit until they prove they can play their brand of hockey consistently. The D is still a question mark over the course of a full season and their bottom 6 is not great. The additions of Finnie and Pelikka make it seem more sustainable than previous years but still very skeptical about Detroit.

  17. History is going to tell us that Mike Sullivan is a massively overrated coach. He was the change of voice a completely stacked roster, he had no hand in constructing, needed. Once he started putting his own mark on the team they started a downward trend. Now that he is gone the team is immediately trending back up.

I dont think he is a terrible coach but I think he owes a lot of his career to Crosby and Matt Murray.
