Sorry love your content but to be upset over a sabres win? They’ve been physical every other game, this style worked this time probably all part of the plan, sit back love the wins and let’s hope for a great season!
I watched this game and I think there were more hits than the stats indicate, but TO was more physical. However, the boys skated circles around the buds and the only option for them was to try to hit, but overall Buff made the leafs look like slow and frantic. I wholly disagree that they were lucky. They were simply better and did not need to play the body.
Not a sabres fan but doan was great pickup. Hope kesselring plays well too once he will benin lineup
I miss old-time physical hockey… the days of Ray, May, & Barnaby.
I agree with your ranting about the lack of hitting. Not getting anything done on the 5 on 3 was like an episode of past debacle, but a win is a win. I hope that Lindy doesn't play UPL tomorrow, should have kept him in Rochester, he has a terrible record vs Toronto. Why was MacLeod out there at the end at center, he was pretty bad on face-offs. Hope Kozak isn't hurt for long, they needed him tonight. BTW, Joshua's younger brother Jagger is looking like a mirror of Dakota and doing well with the Amerks.
Ride Lyon and Ellis until they show otherwise…
I do agree they need to be more physical. However it feels like they’re going a lot more of the little things right now like getting the pucks out and in deep instead of the razzle dazzle on the breakouts and entries all the time. And blocking a lot of shots. The passion does feel like it’s there now but we do need to clean up that physical play absolutely
⚔️ Sammy playing good is HUGE… there's a reason why he got that big contract 👍 🏒
Wins is all that matters at this point. Kozak was gone in the 1st period, probably why some physicality was missing
Honestly SHOCKED to see u so negative after this win. I thought we played great, sure the hits are lopsided tn but id anything that just means we had the puck more
Man this is tough. I liked the win, but I felt uneasy all game like the tables could turn and the game get away on us. After seeing the stats it has to be the lack of physical play that was making me feel this way. ALSO UPL, I've been a big UPL apologist for years now hoping he would grow into the goaltender I know he can be… Apparently he can only be that goaltender when his contact is almost up and it's time to get paid. If they stick UPL in nets and he looks like he can't stop a beach ball whilst turning into swiss cheese I hope we can just get rid of him or something. I've held out, but I have to admit that he might not be the answer. We'll see though, onto tonight. Let'ssss Goo!!
UPL has never beat the leafs. He's like 0-5-1
All 1st round picks
Samuelson's 2nd goal was a beauty. Looked like a pure sniper out there. Glad to see the boys claw back to .500. Lyon has been stellar so far and I just know upl is gonna kill the momentum they've been building. Hope im wrong
great passing on the goals. MS with two goals oh my.
I was at the game and a few observations:
For a long time they only had 2 hits and both were Malenstyne. I said you were going to be upset lol.
Thompson went out of his way not to hit. It cost him a penalty by using his stick when he easily could have taken the body.
Tuch wasn’t invisible but was not engaged enough until the last goal.
All said, the Sabres and the crowd were into it. They out skated the Leafs all night except for a few minutes in the 3rd. They dominated the first period but came out tied due to the PP.
I totally want more hitting but if they out skate and out chance teams like that they will win a lot of games.
UPL warming up concerned me. I hope I’m wrong.
Benson is my favorite player such a smart player the play in the leafs corner behind the net in the 1 st he knows what the enemy is gonna do he has a upper edge ,smart player Einstein like about the softness Toronto is softer I thought to myself there's no fist a cuffs in this 1 B4 the game started we won because Toronto is soft too
I agree. Sabres need to find the mixture of skill and gritty type of play. Skill will only get you so far in this league.
Power had at least 1 of those hits crunching someone along the boards as they entered the zone. That to me was Powers best hit ever. 😊 Lyon King was a difference maker.
I need Dahlins girlfriend to call him and tell him to win like Adrian did to Rocky in Rocky II. His head has not been in these games.
My opinion on hitting is that in this game they changed hitting for puck control. I think that even ESPN comentators said it too. Not many hits but Sabres control game. And i agree. Most of third period Sabres controling puck and didn't let Toronto play. And I bet that in playoffs this team will suprise many people with physical play.
I like your criticism of Sabres performance. Can you show video examples of exactly what you’re referring to?
I want more hits too but Im glad they beat the much HATED Leafs! Im more upset with the freaking breakaways and giveaways ! Every game it seems they give up 3 or 4 breakaways because of giveaways or blocked shots !
Im expecting a much more physical game from our boys in the Sewage pit tonight . Would love to see a sweep of the make me laughs !
Any word on Kozak? Hope he is back on saturday night .🙏🙏
They seem to raise their game physically when provoked early. Look at the Florida game. Finish your checks so players think twice headed into the corners.
I'll bet Geertsen gets in the line-up in Toronto!
They were a bit soft THIS game. Nobody plays a full season hitting everything in sight. And nobody plays a full season without off nights. They won on a night that they were off! To me, that's a promising sign.
Bro, I started watching in 1993 & the past seems so nostalgic. Go back & watch a game from 1996 & most of these guys are ECHL quality, lol. Teams were 3/4 tough guys & 1/4 skill guys. Appreciate the skill of today
Part of me wonders if they were avoiding the physical play because they were playing a back to back with Toronto. Leafs threw a ton of hits, so they might be more spent/tired for the rematch game today, while Buffalo should have more energy for the game. It wouldn't surprise me if Buffalo came out banging the Leafs around in the rematch. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for one bad hitting game since they have generally been more physical this season. If it becomes a pattern, then I'll be more concerned. Also need to remember that you cannot hit if you have the puck. So being badly outhit might be an indicator of controlling the puck more.
wtf are you talking about?, you're upset weren't physical enough…so what the leafs are old and SLOW why would dumb down our game in this matchup when they can't hang with our speed and high skill?, makes no sense to play down to that style. we can play lindy/granato hockey, being able to swap styles based on matchup is a great thing.
Disagree. We were tenacious, fought hard for pucks, absorbed a little punishment to make plays, we controlled the game. Stolarz saved them. 30-8 are numbers. 4 extra hits per period didn't stop momentum, the boys are playing hard to win. I'll take the W.
Special teams are still concerning despite the win. Almost 2 minutes 5 on 3 and they looked terrible. They didn't score a single 5on3 goal last year, according to Google. In addition, 4 minutes or so of empty net and no score. When we have an empty net the opposition scores frequently.
Now Lindy wasn't allowed to bring any assistant coaches, so who is the magnificent untouchable special teams coach in charge of these two game situations?
Last season Buffalo would have lost this game in OT…they looked sharp!
Sometimes you have a team chasing you, so they hit more than they play the puck. That’s what happened, we got to beat them with our feet. No complaints here
You concentrate on the hits too much. Hits work in certain games, it's the end result that matters most. When watching the game it didn't feel like we were outhit that bad. Let it go. They won, and the Jays won. Go Jays!
What the fuck are you so upset about that you stopped watching?? We controlled the entire game lol. Who cares about 8 hits
It drove you crazy that they controlled the entire game? You gotta let it go
Toronto outhit us and manhandled us … Lyon won the game for us.
Yes, great game but I just don’t understand the lack of hitting. Especially against Montreal and especially when you are defending a lead in the 3rd. The hits are right there ripe for the picking and they don’t take them. I don’t understand why they don’t circle every division game on the calendar or against wild card contenders and say these games are war.
This was all Lindy ruff, this was a coaching win, sacrifice hitting for time of possession
Surprised to hear that the Sabres lead the league in home wins for the calendar year 2025, this coupled with great special teams and above average goaltending should support a realistic playoff run.
Don’t know what you think Wayne but I am impressed with Ostlund, the kid has some size and is silky smooth. Some great potential
Blackhawks fan of 40yrs and agree about Florida their team since Chucky got there in 2022-23 has been ELITE all around with amazing culture + talent + FO + coaching.
Bro best game by sabres, your analysis is shit tonight
UPL = OTL
