Arber Xhekaj is the best defenceman in the NHL that is paid 1.5m or less and not on entry level contract.
Marty I am begging you , PLEASE move Xhekaj to forward on the 4th line. Sit Veleno as he just a soft player with less skill. Marty you will never trust Arber as a D-man. Arber wants to go, he wants to hit and he has a world class shot. Just put him on the 4th line PLEASE !!!!!
7:30 Jesse probably meant to say "among rookies", not all Habs players… The last one was Slaf just last year 02/13/2024 vs. ANA. He was 19 years, 320 days and had 1+2. Also Alex Galchenyuk on 11/10/2013 vs. NYI at 19 years, 271 days had 1+2. And among rookies yes, Eric Desjardins in `89. That`s not to take anything from #93, it was an amazing performance! This guy will be an absolute powerhouse in his prime.
I think due to Schaefer (given if he puts up 50+ points), Demidov may need around 80+ points to get many of the 1st votes for Calder. Note: previous goalies that won the Calder literally had to contest for the Vezina and have around 50-55 starts minimum. Way too early to tell for Dobes as too small of a sample size….wait until at least December or January and he will have his bad games (last season 1/3 of his starts were 4+ goals).

Imagine if at awards They finish 1,2,3 in voting. Dobes number 1, Demidov 2, Kapanen 3. Yes Dobes will be rookie of the year, taking the number one job this season and leading the habs on a run to the Finals like Dryden did.
Let's not get too cocky. It's early and other teams will adjust their approach.

Josh, I have made a living making up words so have at er! Love the play of Dobes and the Habs. There is not much you can do when you live in a shoe but move to a boot and get laced because you feel like a heel and get kicked around all the time because you got no soul. We should be 9 and 1.

It's gonna be Demidov or Shaefer… If Shaef has 10 points less he will win. Demidov aint playing enough, eed s a true center in second 2.
Everyone knows and your Grandma Demidov – Caufield – Suzuki together can get 100 – 90 – 80 EZ!!!! man! Slaf is meh, he has no shot, and get's most goal scoring chances thanks to 14.
So basically we could have 3 Rookies in the Calder conversation. Dobes starts this season with a 5-0-0, a repeat of his start last year. The last HABS goalie to do this was Carey Price in 2016.

So here we go, people are already handing the Vezina to Dobeš after only 5 games. I love his play so far, but remember that he had a similar start last year and it was downhill from there.
I'm not trying to be a party pooper but this tendency to go overboard with minimal data is annoying.
Same thing for people who say Demidov is "not playing enough" to vie for the Calder. Ten games. Don't you thing MSL will play him more from now on?
The habs will be a force in this league for a long time.
I’d be pleasantly surprised if Kapanen keeps it up. Odds are there will be a drop off but we’ll see.

3 Calder candidates this year, we won it last year (Hutson) and with Hage and Zharovsky as rookies next year that is 3 years in a row! It won't be long until we are all saying "Ca sent la coupe"!
