Oskar Bäck will not play tonight with an upper body injury as the Dallas Stars host the Washington Capitals at American Airlines Center (7:30 p.m. CT). Bäck was activated from IR on Sunday and made his season debut that night in Nashville, scoring a crucial goal in the Stars’ 3-2 comeback win over the Predators. With Jamie Benn, Roope Hintz, Matt Duchene and Nils Lundkvist already sidelined, losing Bäck means the Stars do not have enough healthy players to dress a full compliment of 12 forwards, so defenseman Kyle Capobianco is expected to make his NHL season debut, as the team dresses 11 forwards and 7 defensemen. For the Capitals, they are missing Dylan Strome and Rasmus Sandin due to injury. Plus, this could very well be Alex Ovechkin’s final trip to Dallas. The 40-year-old Ovechkin, who will be a UFA after this season, needs one goal to become the first player in NHL history to reach the 900 career goals milestone.
