For all you youngsters tuning in, the '76 – 79 habs were the greatest NHL hockey team ever assembled. You wanna skate? Sure. Fight? Sure. Play wide open shinny? Sure. Play a choking defensive style? Sure. Have 50 goal scorers trying to break into the lineup? Sure (Pierre LaRouche). Have not one but three HoF defensemen playing at the same time? Sure (Savard, Lapointe, Robinson). Have a lawyer in goal? Sure. (Ken Dryden, eight seasons, six cups). Haven't even mentioned Lafleur, Shutt, Lemaire. But i digress. Great to see this young bunch playing some exciting hockey, win or lose. But winning is better.
