Mollie Walker and former Ranger Brian Boyle are back with a new episode of Up In The Blue Seats and there’s plenty to unpack. The Rangers remain winless at home after a wild overtime loss to the Sharks, but there were signs of life on offense and positives to take away.
The crew breaks down what has gone wrong for the Rangers as they struggle to find consistency. Plus Matt Rempe’s fight with Ryan Reaves and what Rempe’s injury means moving forward, Brennan Othman’s recall from Hartford, and the surprising emergence of defenseman Matthew Robertson.
All that and more on the newest episode of ‘Up in the Blue Seats’

Rempe got heart but is a terrible fighter, he has not won 1 fight hands down since he been in the league. Constantly getting destroyed by smaller guys.
RIP Larry. 🙁 Gone too soon! At least he got to see The Rangers win two Stanley Cups.
Thoughts to my favorite hockey writer we love u !!
"Lack of awareness", in other words, low hockey IQ. Sullivan is the type of coach who will get what he wants from Drury.
The Mets kept saying that it’s still early.
JT Miller is honest, but he isn't doing a whole lot either. They got him for 5 more years after this, where will he be 3 or 4 years from now?
Let’s just call it what it is. This roster isn’t very good. It wasn’t built well at all. Drury has been here 5 years and he still has a team with 4 third pair defenseman and 6 fourth liners. Laf is a bust who isn’t a Top 6 performer and Cuylle tries but he doesn’t have any high end skill. Mika, Panarin, and Miller are all aging and declining. The GM is the problem, along with the owner. This is not a good hockey team. They probably will miss the playoffs again.
Rempe needed ice time. Othmann needs ice time. Give the damn kids ice time already…. this crap has been going on for decades.
Molly is so hot. I never realized ❤.. Brian don't worry you still our big sexy center man lol. Guys I'm just wondering as an organization how bad are these kaako and lafreniere trade results going to set this team back. It seems like we've needed to depend so heavily on free agency the past decade. Will NYR ever develop a super star?
Maybe ya just aren't very good. I got no dog in this fight-Im Colorado fan. But while I don't think the Rangers are terrible but also I don't think they are a playoff team this yr- just my opinion at the beginning of the season.
What’s all the hesitation for??? SAY IT !!
They gotta play harder !!!
Can JT AND PANARIN SCORE A GOAL ??????!!!!
RIP LARRY
If you watch the penguins 🐧 last year they never could hold leads .Bring that coach in here and rangers can’t hold leads 😂 who knew 🤷🏻♂️
Prayers for Larry
Hope Larry is OK, much love!!
Sucks to be so loyal..being a Rangers fan is painful
The Rags are so bad they've made Larry sick!😅😅😅
Everything that has happened with the Rangers the last 2 years is due to poor management from Drury ,this is his Failure as much as Sullivan who is not a Winner Period. Lost as Coach to Team Canada 2 years ago .Lost the Pens run for the Cup 3 years ago .pretty shitty resume !
Its time to accept reality. The problem is not the coach. The Rangers have drafted the same position over and over. How many left wings do you need. Secondly they have failed miserably on these picks. Kratsov, Lundquist, Kakko, Laffy, Othman, Miller all first round picks none are top six players let alone a star. Cuyle is not a scorer, a good player but not a first line left wing. Laffy is the invisible man and horrible defensively. They have wasted Igor, they have not had a #1 right wing in I can't remember when. So now with Mika on the downside, Fox not the same player since his injury and no one that plays D that can make a first pass this is the mess they have. I only hope that Perrault still might be a player but history tells us don't count on it. Drury has done a crappy job and its time to tell the truth and stop the fan boy stuff. Last thing JT Miller have they put out a missing person's report yet?
Cellebrini is another Jack Hughes. Quick, deadly shooter. Why do NYR suck? What's going on?
Yes, Lafreniere is officially a bust, who's the idiot that gave him a big long term contract ??? And Zibanejad has turned into quite a slacker, second worst plus / minus on the team, after Lafreniere.
Lots of respect for Rempe for his terrific 100% effort every game, but he needs training if he is going to keep fighting or his career is not going to last long. Someone please call Nick Fotiu or Colton Orr to help the kid out !
Molly understands so little about the NHL and how the game is played and what's important that one wonders how she was ever hired…embarrassing. It's breathtaking how little her 'insights' are worth. What she should be doing is analysis of the Nassau County Cheerleading competition
Rempe is among the worst regular players in the NHL. Terrible agility, horrific lateral movement skills…He spends half his shifts with his rear-end on the ice. Plus, his only possible redeeming value is so sorry. He is a horrible fighter who regularly get his ass kicked when he drops his gloves. He's batting about .500 getting injured when he fights
Missin Brooksie. Hope he is doing well.
Mollie talking Rempe so Larry would be represented in the pod.
The Rangers stink, why are people surprised? they were not a playoff team last year and they aint this year either, they got nothing, no young talent, the Islanders have blown past them, they are the worse NHL team in NY. Look at some of the awful top picks they have had in the last 10 years starting with that over paid bust Lafreniere.
I hope Larry regains his health. That being said, I have no facts to back up this statement but, I get the feeling this is a group of individuals and not a team. I would like to know the stats on how many times NY gives up the first goal in a game, how many times they score a go ahead goal, a first goal and very shortly after, allow the other team to score. Lastly, I do not know who to direct this question to but….in post game Q&A CAN SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE THE REPORTER'S QUESTIONS AUDIBLE!!! All you ever hear is a mumbling drone of barely understandable words. You have to decipher the question from the answer. Billion dollar franchise and you can'f hear the questions.
Hey Brian, please prove me wrong. Laffy is the biggest #1 bust, he doesn't even look like a first rounder.
He is a poor skater with below average speed.
He has no sniper shot like any first rounders.
Also Vali give an insight in one pre-game show that Laffy's 200+ shots with goalie has a clear sight has scored NONE. That's UNBELIEVEABLE.
His hands are hard as rocks, pucks constantly bounced off his stick.
At 6'2" he plays like he's 5'7", Panarin is more grittier than him
He's out position constantly, the OT goal was on him losing his man and doing puck watching.
The 28 goals couple years ago was benefited playing with world class playmaker Panarin.
It's time to cut our losses get something back before his value goes to zero like kakko.
Let's give Berard a shot who's more willing and faster or Laba who I think it's a stud.
We are only 10 games in so still time to put things right. However, the concern I see (having just watched the Calgary game) is they're still appearing to be so mentally fragile. They put in great efforts against a bunch of teams and were unlucky to lose but then got out-worked by Minny, out-skated and out-hustled by the Sharks and then against the Flames they worked but with no confidence. Some great opportunities to shoot were passed up to make a pretty play and just a lack of awareness and intelligence in their play.
There's no quick fix for that but I do wonder if we'll see some sort of trade to jolt this team, soon other teams will be looking at slight changes they might need but something has to give, they can't play another 72 games like this first 10 – well they can but it would be tear-up time and that would be Drury out time too.
Rangers continuing to flail like the city itself
Can we talk about Coach not sitting PP1 (despite them being largely without merit going well back into last season) in favor of letting PP2 get measurable minutes? And can we get Igor to go full Talbot and play pucks right out instead of wasting 15 seconds of PP behind the Rangers net on every dumpout? It's not like PP1 is changing in the first 1:45 (again, they have not been good so endlessly repeating their chances is simple insanity, by definition), so, why isn't the puck coming right back up ice? Igor's best chance to keep pucks out of his net has to be to adopt the quick clear policy.
Celebrini and Smith are scoring goals. There's still co-hort in college was the Rangers leading scorer in preseason. Instead of giving him the job he earned after two post draft years in college, Sullivan hires his niece's 32 year old husband. Bad move. Bernard earned his way onto the team with energy and 30 goals in AHL. He loses his job to two mid level retreads in Parsanin and Raddysh. So many slow grinders instead of youth. They're being passed by everyone from Montreal to Utah because they're hanging on to the president's trophy. Ugh.
