OK Guys, it’s time to take a look at the game last night between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers.. The Habs lost this game by a score of 6-5 in dramatic fashion. The officiating was absolutely horrendous.. Lets break this one down.

Just realized the clip I showed in the video of the Matheson "tripping call" was actually another time McDavid fell like 5 seconds later. My bad, but it didn't look any better.

No one wants to face the truth. If Habs didn't directly disrespect the refs they wouldn't have gotten the penalty that lead to the game winning goal, and if they were the better team would have won in overtime. Ref's will always have off nights, and if they didn't degrade into children they still could have won. Edmonton didn't deserve to win this, but the Habs deserved to lose.

I haven't seen an Oilers fan try to defend this. We've been on the other side of it far too many times ourselves and we know it sucks. The NHL seems to be as deep into gambling as the NBA is and I've been complaining about it for years. Everyone said I was crazy and yet, here we are again.
The CFL is just as bad if not worse
The league needs consequences for bad officiating. There needs to be grievance protocols in place for coaches and players. A coach's challenge for a bad call maybe in order, reviewable by a third party. Referees should be subject to fines and game penalties as well. It was disgusting!!
The Oilers were handed Mcrainbow in the draft. They had no business getting that pick. The league and the Oilers owner needed him to complete the theft of taxpayers to pay for that ugly new downtown arena.
This is all about sports betting, anyone with eyes can see that officiating is not consistent. It happens to everyones team, no matter the sport.

Hawks fan coming in peace… I like your commentary and have watched for awhile now. Not saying you are wrong at all.. but um… now you know how Hawks fans felt when we played you guys a few nights ago and the refs (Kelly Sutherland specifically) went nuts on us…. it’s frustrating. I think Sutherland in particular needs to be investigated….

There was a soccer match ~15 years ago. Chelsea v Barcelona in the Champions League. Ref named Ovrebo made the worst calls I've seen in pro sports. Until this Habs Oilers game, he had everyone else beat by a mile
PS I'm very nonviolent, but I still dream of punching Ovrebo in the face. He might be too old now. But 10 yrs ago I definitely woulda done it. Well worth a year in jail
This game sucked but it was a character building experience — our team has no quit in them. I just love these guys.Some nights we are going to lose because we don’t show up. Other nights like this one we will lose from some questionable calls. I’m sure these refs must be embarrassed by this one….. They are just human beings. I don’t want AI robots calling the game….

Oilers need all the help they can get. So were refs Oilers biased or just lacking the skill therefore making bad calls? Refs job ain't glorious but they need to keep the line trough the game.
Time for GM's and coaches demanding a " Referee Accountability panel ".
1: Gm and coaches get to submit 3 bad calls per game
2: Panel of 3 ex officials and 2 ex NHL players look at the calls and make a unanimous decision for each call.
3: Demerit point is added to Official is it is rendered a bad call
4: Once Official accumulates a set number of demerits, that ref gets fined , goes to the AHL and one is sent up and the merry go round starts !

Both these teams get special ref treatment example: Oilers trying for that 17 game win streak. That whole season, along with the new ice district… As a Calgarian that cant stand the try hard Oilers. So refreshing & we loved it ❤ when the Oilers lost to Panthers the first time. The pic of Connor crying in the dressing room. The second time they lost to the Panthers was fantastic. 😎💪💥
As a Habs fan, I have been a die hard Oilers supporter during their last two cup runs.
This game, orchestrated by the refs shitshow, makes me think twice about my previous support on the oilers.

Habs and their fans think that they're the only ones to have gotten a soft call. They have low hockey IQ to believe it only happens to them. Poor Karens. But hey! Everybody can start shooting the puck down the ice after a goal to be completely fair.
Montreal was handed the Stanley Cup in 1978 on a soft "too many men on the ice" penalty call. That would be Boston's cup if the ref didn't want Montreal to win. Montreal never won that cup fairly.
St. Louis is a bad coach. He needs to inform his players that they shouldn't shoot the puck down the ice after the other team scores. And what was Matheson doing leaving Podkolzin totally unchecked in front of Monty with 2 minutes left in the game!

I don't even watch hockey anymore. The refs are deciding most games in the NHL and there isnt much the teams can do to change the outcome. Officiating in the NHL is pure bullpooky
