Where was Hughes going? The play was the other way. If he was going for a change, that collision is on him. If he wasn't, he was out of position and that collision was on him.
I think it was the shoulder, The left shoulder was surgiacally repaired this off-season and he landed hard on it. Probably ripped some scar tissue,- you work you ass off to get back after injury then you injury or think it again. The replay shows it took a long time for him to get off the ice and skate back to the bench. I am not saying the stick smash was needed, just stating what I think the reason he did it wasthe hard landing on that shoulder
