Personally, I really don’t want to see Reichel traded. I don’t think he got a fair shot with Richardson and I’d love for Blashill to give him that chance. I feel like Richardson held every mistake against him without letting him have a second chance, and many, many fans have unfortunately followed suit. I’m not thrilled with all of Blashill’s decisions—Reichs is a winger, not a center, and I don’t understand why everyone wants to force him into the center spot—but so far Blash is showing willingness to give more opportunities. I feel like Reichel is held to a different standard than everyone else. So many fans say, “he needs to make an impact EVERY game,” but they won’t say the same about other players. Either way, the only way for him to show anything is to consistently get chances. And he just hasn’t. He’s consistently the player with the lowest TOI, but he’s not consistently with the same lines, and he’s not consistently given chances on a game-to-game basis. I do agree with you that they didn’t do him any favors last season, and I do hope they change that tone this season.
Reichel can still be a difference maker. Keep him and play him.
