Slow Start to 25-26 Season Could be Good for the Flames Long Term Future

Last season they stayed in the hunt until the very end. This season is looking quite different for the Flames.

  1. ive been saying for years we need to get multiple top 3 picks in consecutive years to rebuild correctly. Mid pick year after year is hockey purgatory

  2. all these other fans saying we shouldnt be tanking…get a clue…this team deserves a bonafide superstar

  3. It's tough watching my team loose, It's always a better feeling when they win, but I cannot deny that this is a really good year to 32nd overall. Tank-a for Mckenna, though don't sell off all your veteran players and become Buffalo west.

  4. I love the flames to death but i find it hard to believe that the league would ever let gavin mckenna go to calgary.

  5. Why does everyone dunk on Bean, hes arguably our third best d man behind Anderson and Weegar. Hanley might be better but as far as this season I've liked Bean's game. I think people dont like him because his father used to work for CSEG but he retired a year before Bean was signed so theres no nepotism there and he's always a healthy scratch anyways

  6. I feel bad for the flames. Can the NHL swap the flames for the oilers? I wouldn’t feel bad anymore. I’d feel…joy…and pride. The pride that makes one lift their head up at the end of the day.

    Goddamn the oilers suck.

  7. I think the most glaringly obvious piece they're missing is a goal scorer. Without that, I don't see them winning many games this season

  8. Imagine if this team had a proper coach, they’d probably double their scoring and the players wouldn’t be so miserable

  9. This hasn't been tough to watch for this Flames fan. Its been clear they don't have elite talent since the Huberdeau experiment failed, and it's been frustrating to see them trade away pieces to bring back roster players, or worse picks for middle six forwards.

Seeing the Flames actually in the hunt for a generational player is a breath of fresh air!

I held Flames season tickets for 15 years and let them go this year. They weren't committing to a proper rebuild.

  10. The most "Flames thing" to do would be to finish just outside the bottom five in the league and draft in the 7-10 range. They will get a good prospect there but not one of the potential game changers. Conroy isn't really the problem, it's management. They seem hell bent on wanting to make the playoffs and aren't willing to trade off a few of the vets and commit to a needed rebuild. The team needs several good young pieces still.

  11. It's well known that Huberdeau's contract is the worst in the league. No way any team will touch that. I'm on Team Tank. How low can we go is anyones guess. Hopefully, The Calgary Flames can get a decent amount of number combinations for the draft lottery, and aquire some top draft picks next year.

  12. I went to the game against Vegas and now going to see the rangers this Sunday and blue jackets on Wednesday. Got press level 9 row 3 and 2 and only paid 73.00$ for the one game and 94.00$ for the other more than affordable and honestly I hope they lose the games too we need that McKenna guy

  13. flames have never picked in the top 3. they need this #1 pick badly. id love for it to happen, next year landon dupont will go first and hes from calgary too. We need either or both

  14. I just want them to be either a great team or a horrible team this year. We need this, and any chance to draft #1 this year is worth it. We have a goalie, we have a Dman. We need that super dynamic forward.

Edit: The only thing I hope to see is them give Parekh PP1, we aren't making it, give him all the time you can for that skill and skating he has to shine. This has also been a great team to watch, its close until the last little bit of the game and they lose. It's not brutal to watch the whole game, just the end

  15. The only negative is trade stock of the big name players is dropping every game now… Need to get the overhaul underway ASAP. Last season was a combination of amazing goaltending, great effort every game, and good puck luck. That is not a sustainable way to win. Give us Flames fans what we want please, a top 3 pick!

  16. I started this season with cautious optimism, IE: they are too good to bottom out, maybe good enough to get into a WC playoff spot then who knows. Only way to improve long term is to make trades and get picks included in returns. Long term, what they're mired in is much better than the former. Stay bottom 5 and get a new cornerstone for the franchise which they so desperately need.

  17. being the worst team in NHL is tough. Just shows that grinding teams cant hav any success anymore in NHL
