Is Stuart Skinner A Good Or Bad Goalie?

Holy crap, just three games into the season and Stuart Skinner has stolen the spot light for all sorts of reasons, good and bad! In this video, I share my honest opinion on the goalie! And it’s the last time I’m doing it because it’s getting old!

What are you thoughts on Stuart Skinner? Do you think he is a legit number one? Do you think this is his final year with the Oil? Drop a comment down below as I interact with every single one! Thanks for all the continued support guys, see you in the next one!

  1. He is consistently bad running around with 900 to 890 save percentages. Also when hes good hes average compaired to most nhl goalies.

  2. I understand people not having faith in Stu but I do he's still young and he's he's played only 2 games so far but he has around .949 save percentage and a shutout and he's looked a lot better these 2 games then he did at the start of the last 2 seasons and besides the 3rd goal against the flames that was his fault but ya I understand everyone not believing in him but I do

  3. The thing is when Stu makes a mistake everyone highlights it. If any other goalie makes a mistake it just gets looked over

  4. High ceiling, low floor. Just raise the DAM floor to stop the noise. He’s young, he is capable!

  5. I was super-hyped for Skinner when he was first coming up from the AHL. I know there's a goalie in there somewhere.

But I do worry sometimes that by the time he finds it, it'll be too late for the Oilers… Because his inconsistencies actually hurt more than JUST the negative games would be if they were more expected somehow.

By this, i mean that when he let's in those absurdly bad/random goals it absolutely demoralizes the team.

I figure he has until Christmas to prove himself. But even then I'm not sure how he could be trusted 100%

  6. NHL goalies who are rockstars their entire career are rare. Most of them are either good in their 20's and then fall off a cliff or figure it out closer to 30. I might be in the minority here, but I think it would be a mistake to give up on stu while he's still so young. Even if you find an upgrade in net, I would still keep him on as a 1b if possible.

  7. QUICK! Trade Skinner now while his value is high. He has got to go. He has no place in Edmonton anymore. Doesn’t matter if he got a shutout. He has cost too many games for the Oilers to be given another chance. He needs to go. Bring in Joey Daccord as a replacement and everything will be fine because unlike Skinner, Daccord is consistent and is much better behind defense that can leave him out to dry.

  8. Game 1 of the cup finals I was thinking of buying a Stu jersey…. Day 1 of the regular season I wanted stu gone…. Now I just don’t know…. The true Stu experience

  9. I’m so tired of this crap. Do any of you ever think the oilers lost a game because the team wasn’t good enough not just because Skinner let in a goal. Where was McDavid last playoffs he was invisible. Why did Ekholm play he wasn’t 100%. Where was the bottom 6 scoring other than Perry. No one talks about the team play that resulted in the loss it’s just Skinners fault because he didn’t have shutout heaven forbid he lets in a goal. Why is a loss not on the defence not helping Skinner leaving him out to dry Nurse and Bouchard doing dum things. Why’s the loss not on Knobs when he dosnt take a time out or blends the lines up every two seconds. Why’s the loss not on the PP that just passes the puck around for 2 minutes doing nothing or the PK just letting guys walk in and tee off on Skinner. See I look at it as a whole not just Skinners inconsistency. How about the entire teams inconsistency’s.

  10. There are no bad goalies in the NHL. Skinner is INCONSISTENT, which makes it hard to commit and count on.

  11. His biggest strength is his size. I believe he has the worst lateral movement of any starting goalie in the NHL and he also has the most consistent mental gaphes. Obviously they came close to winning it all with him but I think they would be doing themselves a huge favor finding someone with more consistency.

  12. Most goalies in today's NHL are merely a product of the system in front of them. Stu is perhaps the most glaring example of this!

  13. most inconsistent goalie in the NHL and he's 27. You never know what you're going to get with him. He is unreal sometimes or a complete pumpkin. He is a backup being forced to be a starter

  14. Skinner isn’t a bad goalie. He’s a goalie who gets paid 2.6 per year and that’s what he plays like. Edmonton fans blame him every time a bad goal goes in, but what do you expect when you pay your goalie that much? Skinner over performs his contract, but he’s being asked to be an 6-8mil aav goalie which he will never be. Stop blaming skinner for the oilers having a poorly managed cap.

  15. Calm down. Stop being a baby.
I could go on about why do you have a youtube channel. I could jump on your back over every mistake you make. I could call your boss to get you fired . Every day
    Do you want that?
    Stop whining.

  16. The Oilers have had the worst goalie coaches in the league for the last 15 years, ruining goalies that in some cases looked like world beaters before and after their time in Edmonton. I think Skinner needs a full season under the new coach before we know what we actually have in him.

  17. very inconsistent with 'one-of-a-kind' bad-mistakes. I do not believe in his flexibility/agility at all. Even in this 'amazing' shut-out of the Rangers, where he held incredibly well all game (also with some luck, posts, bars, etc). However even in this game, you see Stu sometimes drop as a Brick in front of him. He quickly loses balance and awareness, at times he body-turns 360 in the net, without knowing where is back, where is front, is he centered in the net. With the puck on the stick, is 'panic time'.

  18. I think Stuart Skinner is a good goalie, he just needs refinement to help get rid of his inconsistency.

I'm hoping the goalie coach change helps, as his consistency has only degraded since he became our main goalie, same as darn near every goalie in the last 14 years for the Oilers

  19. His issues isn't if he is good or not, it's if he can stay consistent. Stu can be a great a goalie for good stretches and then just do a 180 the next month and be subpar.

  20. He's mid and streaky. When he's on his game he's decent and it's noticeable because 95% of the time he's trash.

  21. Don't change goalies yet Stuart is coming into his own and we will be sorry if you let him go now everybody knows it takes a long time for a goalie to hit his stride

  22. It's called the learning curve Stuart will definitely improve soon as you turn them over to another team he will excel

  23. He is a good goalie but really bad in clutch moments. He can be an absolute brick wall but on the other hand an ementali cheese. Not reliable and he has a really bad luck when it matters the most. Better to sacrifice chickens or other voodoo shit to get that luck in most needed moments.
