My take-away with how this is handled:
It’s not Crosschecking to crosscheck a player without the puck.
It’s not Hitting From Behind to hit an unaware player from behind.
It’s not Instigating to punch a player laying on the ice.
It’s not Fighting to drop your gloves and attempt to fight someone.
It’s not Unsportsmanlike to break an opposing player’s helmet.
It is expected of you, as a player, to use safety equipment that is not made for you, in the event your equipment fails.

He then takes a run at Marchand again at the blue line no where near the puck
dahlin was targeting Marchand both times no where near the puck- uncalled.
I get marchands reaction and this time he got a taste of his own medicine..
Normally it’s Marchand taking two out of play shots at an opposing team player and they react to his actions and take a penalty…
