  1. That was a great win, we definitely needed the win! They played gritty hardnose hockey after giving up the early lead

  2. Plenty to like in last night's effort, and across the board.
    There's D and there's effort.
Could have folded the tents and quit after the first 8 minutes – came back for the win.
Great effort and fight by Carrick…but when did Rempe become a Quaker? Arber Wifi was after him all night – grabbing, punching, cross checking… and no fight back… and ends up in the box anyway.
Refing was awful, but it didn't decide the game.

  3. Haven't checked like this all over the ice in a million years. Still missing key pieces. But they finally have an effective system and coach to build on. Similar to the Panthers. Now get us the kind of two way tough guys and agitators that excel in the system.

  4. Don't get too carried away here. Yes, the team is doing some things well (particularly on defense). But last night's win doesn't happen with a even a league-average goalie in the Montreal net. If this team is going to be successful, they need to start getting some traffic in front of the other team's net. Thus far this season, other than the 4th line, none of the forwards want to go anywhere near the crease for some reason. It's the main reason they aren't scoring in most games. Also, yes, Bread came alive last night. For about three shifts in the 3rd period. Other than that, he was having probably his worst game of the season. Those three shifts are a positive sign. The structure on D is a positive sign. But the team still has a LOT to fix before they even start thinking about the playoffs.

  5. They must learn how to put the pack in the ocean at home! They still should play Gabriel parole. Call him up. Still have to learn better power play.

  6. I’m impressed with their defensive prowess so far. Have to believe that is more about the coach’s approach bc the the personnel are not all that great. Happy to see them playing well, even in the losses.

  7. Like I said many Ranger fans are pressing the panic button and this began on their second game of the season. The team still has some loose screws to tighten before they can be considered playoff contenders and this will be taken care of before the the end of the first half of the season.

  8. People seem to think Miller is some kind of superstar – good player no doubt – but in watching him in a Rangers jersey he has done nothing particularly remarkable to the level of a Panarin for example.

Vince on a previous episode of his pod said that everyone at the time was pleased with the Zibanejad contract. Like his stuff but that simply isn't true. Many warned about the term and in particular the absolute God awful structure of the no move protection. Signing him to that deal with the aforementioned move protection was crazy, and he sums up the issues there are with this roster.

That core was never getting it done. And when you see everyone in a scrum as he skates away, leaving another player outnumbered while he is the only one who doesn't take a man, you need not wonder why.

We have mostly overpaid players on long contracts and nothing looking exactly superbly promising in the youth department. Mr Christmas has ushered in an era of absolute average and it is exactly what I expected him to do.
