  1. A few things that have changed drastically from last season, North South play and K Miller not serving up turnovers.
Didn’t appreciate the Fox flop in the Toronto OT.
Rangers leading the league in hits so far this year!

  2. TLDR lots to like here, but let's not get excited because "It's only one game" and Montembeault was Not Good At All.

Loved Carrick taking out Hutson like a sack of garbage, then more than holding his own against the X-man. Also loved Quick giving Hutson a verbal beat-down for the embarrassing mismatch. Massive FU points for both guys, and I think it changed the game. Needs to continue. As does the impressive team defense.

Also loved Mika hitting on a one-timer for the first time in about 2 years, and Panarin sniping for once. And Robertson played like a seasoned vet after getting undressed at the blue line on his first shift — good on Sullivan for sticking with him, Lavvy would have benched him and ruined his career. And the solid team defense continues. All good!

    BUT …

    1) The sluggish start once again reared its ugly head.
    2) They have fallen to new depths with the missed opportunities and lack of net-front authority.
    3) No one should be congratulating themselves for Montembeault's three soft goals and terrible 3d period …
    4) … or for Montreal's terrible D on Panarin's snipe — ffs it was a 2 on 4.
    5) They are still using only one line on the PP and have all of 19% to show for it.
    6) Zero goals for 3 at home still adds up to not even a sniff at the playoffs.

I'm unconvinced the team defense will continue — we saw them play awesome stretches under Lavvy, only to revert to pond hockey on a permanent basis. And even if the defense holds, until they resolve the finishing and PP problems this team is going nowhere.

  3. 2nd per, 3:50 on the Habs breakaway, why wasn’t a penalty called against Gallagher vs Laf? Interference? Hooking? Good game all around, Need to bank points.

  4. Canadien fans really thought this game was gonna be a cake walk well surprise this is not the same team of last season. The announcers all they talked about was how this pass quickly then on the third period the announcers were quieted as the Rangers tied and took the lead. Kudos on how the Rangers won. As for Mika his plays are still off and slow. I believe this team is on a mission and that’s to make the playoffs with ease. We have the best goaltenders starting and secondary.
