The Last Days of Bedlam | The 2006-07 New York Islanders

The further back in NHL history you go, the more insanity you will find. As technology and society have developed, there has been less and less room over time for insane contracts, crazy leadership, off-ice drama, and storybook finishes. The 2007 New York Islanders had all of that happen to them, and then some. They are the final team to court bedlam.

  1. I want to shout-out some very helpful consultants for this video: Dan Saraceni and Mike Leboff at ⁨@islandersanxiety⁩ , Jack at ⁨@IslesDen⁩ and @Sab for the footage. This video wouldn't get to where it is now without them!

  2. I am a Ranger fan, but I remember that season pretty clearly as I was following all other teams in NHL cause I just loved hockey. Great video, dude keep it up! Also this was the first year Sid the Kid made playoffs and got completely demolished in the first round by Senators.

  3. Also what's with the gross ass alternate upscaled AI thumbnail lol get rid of that shit

  4. Stitching together all the "SCOOO-OOOO-RES" in the middle of the sad montage made me laugh so hard

  5. You're such an amazing story teller and add drama so well that you made this NJ Devils fan cheering for the 06-07 Islanders throughout this video. You're the man PHG ❤

Also, Yesteryears and Playoffs Past merge into one for this 1.5 hours long masterpiece! A beautiful recipe

  6. 1. Amazing video as always, Mr. Pinholes!
    2. I will always, ALWAYS be amazed at the story of John Spano becoming the owner of the Islanders for a few minutes. It's an insane story, the 30 for 30 on him was great.

  7. Leafs fans of a certain vintage certainly curse Dubielewicz's name whenever they hear it.

  8. Great video. Still waiting for the Ottawa Senators Vs Toronto Maple Leafs Playoff series videos. Hopefully you are still intending on doing more of those.

  9. Thank you for the timing, my team lost their fourth straight last night and I'm having much more fun watching this

  10. 15:05 I'm haunted by something I CAN define, which is the year it just took off my life to be reminded what Twitter was like in 2007

  11. A video on the 2002-03 Minnesota Wild would be awesome. The playoff run they had, up until the conference finals, was unbelievable.

  12. I worked for a company owned by Charles Wang in the 2010's, NeuLion. His dysfunctional ownership and management styles was not isolated to a hockey team, I promise you.

  13. Love the Cake reference in the chapters, this season was my first introduction into becoming an islanders fan so it means a lot. Thanks for making this!

  14. This made me (a fucking capitals fan) emotional about the islanders, teams like this are special, yeah they don’t win cups but they are something built from a bunch of misfits, almost feels like the spiritual predecessor to the Vegas knights of 2018

  15. Really excellent job encapsulating what this team meant to the fan base at the time and today. All of the guys mentioned (maybe Yashin withstanding) are loved by the fan base. Being a fan during this time was so brutal and this was the first isles team I saw that it felt like they cared. I’m honestly in awe at how well you captured islander fandom, excellent work.
