  1. I just welcome these deposits in the point bank for later in the season, in case they exceed expectations and end up in a battle for a playoff spot. Regardless of how they fare in 2025-26, they have youth and a new coaching staff and are on a journey somewhere, unlike the last three or four seasons of them being stuck in a depressing neutral gear. I like this better, it's more fun.

  2. I think the new kid, Kindle, brings the energetic youth to inspire the old men. It was a great game! 🐧🏒🖤💛

  3. We couldn't have been watching the same game. The Panthers out played the Pens. The fact that Marchand missed the net on the 2-1 in the second was pure luck. Also, the Dewer goal was pure luck. This type of win is not sustainable. Again, where is Villie???????

  4. The proof that Sully's system and message has become outdated in the league today is in the standings. Rangers sitting at 6th in the Metro at 3-4-2 record 😂

  5. I know it is early and there's a long way to go but they have been fun to watch and this team has such a different vibe than another team in Pittsburgh. Let's go Pens

  6. Enjoyed the listen DK. Couple of comments:
    1) I’m not surprised with Harry’s play. His stats are consistent with his career numbers for first half of the year. Top 5 stats. There is a significant drop off as season goes on and into second half. I’ll refrain from seeing he’s taken the next step until then.
    2) I don’t think it’s silly to think the team won’t be good. Their roster isn’t great. And their okay hasnt matched their record. Florida minus too 2 players controlled most of play. Won most 50/50 puck battles. Dominated shot attempts and shots and high danger shots. HOWEVER, the one area I didn’t think this team would do well which they have is they are finding ways to win. Even when they shouldn’t. That’s a good thing and bodes well. They definitely have had puck luck as Jarry alluded to.
Let’s see how the season goes but so far I’m happy to be wrong about that. I’m not changing my opinion that they’ll be bottom 10 but happy to be proven wrong as season goes on.

  7. I think (an i liked ) him sully was done. The r playing totally different the r playing a way an keeping that during the game an they like what muse is doing

  8. yea the pens won ,but malkin still took an absolutely stupid penalty at the worst time in the first minute or so of the 3rd period when they were up by 2 ! if malkin would stop taking bad penalties and giving away the puck Id bet that would be worth 3 or 4 more wins easily !

  9. All starts from goalie s. If you have goalies who you can trust, it's big influence to player's. If somebody have been playing hockey of any level know what it mean.

Now Silovs and Jarry forcing each other to play well. Both had a happy end last season. They wanted to hold this good feeling.

Muse arrival also changed a lot, guys feel maybe more free.

Btw second big boys line is great

  10. There is a legit pattern with this core and team when they change head coaches when its long over due. They thrive and play so much better, I wont go as far as 2026 champs yet!! Plenty of great youth and depth, especially goalie position. Jarry was outstanding LATE in this game yet again. We didnt see that last year until he came back up from WBS. Dubas deserves a lot of credit too. Let's Go Pens!!!!

  11. I think both Jarry and Silovs are greatly benefitting from the fact that the Pens are no longer giving up odd man rushes against at an alarming rate like they have over the past 3-5 seasons, especially in the opening 5 minutes. They’re able to make routine saves early, get a feel for the puck and the game, and settle in. Now… is a .920 sv% sustainable? Highly unlikely. But even something in the .910-.915 range would be a vast improvement over recent seasons.

  12. The biggest surprise to start the year, for me, is the absolutely solid play we’ve gotten from our blue line. The guys we got this offseason may not be flashy or have the big name factor, some of the 1-1 defending and defending along the boards that has been done this season, has been much needed and much missed these last few years. Really been a joy to watch us be able to dig in and stop teams for long stretches.

  13. We’ve seen this with Jarry before. Maybe give him another dozen games before assuming he’s turned it all around.

  14. If you include the preseaon this team has only 3 losses in regulation. Maybe, just maybe, this team isn't as bas as everyone seemed to hope coming into the season.

  15. I thought this was a perfect game to show the entire league who the new pens are! They are for real! This whole time Mike Sullivan had Crosby and Geno split up and not playing on the same power play together 😂. Makes zero sense. They won how many cups together?! They are both still playing at a very high level! I also want to mention Kyle Dubis deserves credit for making a bunch of huge moves to make this team wayyyy better this year! This young group of guys we have are great and they are hungry! It’s the perfect mixture to go with our big guns 💪. I think this younger goalie is pushing Jarry to play better. Our other goalie is great too. I am definitely feeling a lot better about the trajectory of this season.

  16. F that is going to say it! The eye test tells me they are way better and they are for sure a playoff team. We need to think positively but also be realistic and go off the facts. 😂 Their record is what it is ! Love the show DK

  17. First off, very good win…but I will disagree with DK on one thing, the D coverage…they were kinda lucky Marchant didn't have 4 or 5 goals…he was open all night

  18. Everything's clicking right now. I'm not going to get too high on the good times and I won't get too down on the inevitable hard times to come. Youth is a big reason for the renewed hope but youth also usually comes with a pitfall. They aren't used to an 82 game season grind. So 40 or 50 games into the season seeing 2 and 6 streches where nothing is clicking won't be a surprise but yea tanking for a top 5 pick isn't a thing

  19. Thank you for your coverage! For those of us scattered throughout the country you are our connection to this team and the city of Pittsburgh! Thank you so much Go Pens!!!

  20. Seeing the team as serious is only a fan/media thing (as you say it doesn’t matter). Every team they play is going to understand they are playing well and take them seriously. It’s great to watch and to see scoring up and down the lines.

  21. It's a young team to some extent and I am happy with the teams performance and hopefully they can continue right on up through Christmas. And they are getting good goaltending

  22. Yes, what a game!!! What did scare me was this….when Florida had the puck in our zone or coming to our zone, we gave them space and when we had the puck in theirs or coming to theirs, they would be in our face. A total different mentality.

On another note that hasn't been said…..that Sid faceoff with 1-2 mins left from our left faceoff circle, WOW!!!! He slapped it as hard as he could towards the other end, it bank's off the boards and towards their empty net, where he just missed an empty net/hattrick goal!!!! Oh my Sid, what a play!!! 🐐

  23. I don't disagree that their LD is the most obvious weakness, but credit where it's due, I think Shea had a really good game last night and made a lot of noticeable checking plays, and Wotherspoon was really steady and played his role. And his jumping into the scrum over Rust the way he did may have put them at a disadvantage, but I liked it. That "get the hell off our guy" energy, I think, really shows how this group is gelling.

    LGP

  24. Im a big jarry doubter but early he has me quite. His timely saves especially on Marchand last night was unreal. The defence may not be lighting it up points wise. But they play solid together.

  25. @DKPS_Penguins,
Hey DK, watching this team get off to the start they have is great to see, and I agree with you, it's too early to really know their identity…..but…..but. Coming into this season I had zero expectations for many wins or the playoffs, because of that I think I've enjoyed watching this team now over the last 8 games more than the last 5 plus years. Watching the young guys play their asses off with passion and desire and to be allowed to show their creativeness is such a breath of fresh air, seeing the rookies get a chance and over delivering this early on is awesome. Seeing solid goal tending, far fewer odd man rushes and breakdowns, even Karlsson and Letang seem engaged and willing to play defense, they all seem bought in and that has been something they weren't for quite a few years. How much of that was Sullivan who knows, I am so glad he's gone and the team has turned the page, and moving forward.

  26. Thank you DK. Their off to a great start ! I love it, just keep it up. I believe they are better, but it's still early. Great show DK

  27. It’s been fun to watch. I’m curious to see how they do against good teams that are healthy.

  28. The nicest thing about this early start is they still haven't called up Ville or Rutger. Gives me immense hope.
