  1. Indeed, Monty has got some better times before. He looks nervous and that doesn't help. BUT when Habs do start strong with tow goals in a few minutes, they tend to soften their game … It wasn't the first time.

  2. Canadians doesn't have a core defence, not yet I mean. Montibeu, is a top goalie. Need more experienced D. That's all.

  3. monty has to be better 4 goals in 3 out of the 4 games he's played and doby deserves to play and the habs need saves

  4. Monty is the goalie version of RHP. Was good on a last place team. He’s a glorified backup. Proved it last year down the stretch. Maybe lay off the ❄️ in the summer.

    IYKYK.

Dobes here on in. Should’ve traded Monty this summer as he was at high value. Now we’re fuxked

  5. Monty has been letting in stinkers from the Blue Line since 2024 and nothing's changed. That said he does have those games where he stands on his head and has made great saves even this year. But we can all agree, Dobe$ needs that cage.

  6. You don't need to sugarcoat it… Monty is responssible for both loses the Canadiens had this year, he needs to be benched and feel that his #1 spot isn't a given if he sucks.

  7. One thing I learned as a goalie. When you start dropping to your knees for almost every shot, especially 20 feet out, it means you're not feeling confident at all. A hot goalie will come out to cut off the angles. Not stay way back in his net and pray on his knees. My coach drove this into my head at a very early age. MONTY needs to take time to retool, and DOBES needs to take over for awhile. IMO
And losing GUHLE is a MASSIVE BLOW. Probably the worst blow the HABS can take right now. He's my MVP.

  8. Been sayin' that since before Dobes was brought up. Monty needs to come back down to earth or at least the hype around him does. He is a good backup goalie and that is it. Marty NEEDS to see that and fast before the season gets away from them.

  9. Dobes tonight and keep Gallagher the heck off the PP…for good. Makes me think he has pics of Marty with barnyard animals!? They played well in first and seemed to let up when they didn't score later in first. Need to be more resilient

  10. Being BIG as dobes u got to use it as ur advantage right BUT this kid still not that fluent and consistent , if we compare Marc Andre fleury to him it’s gonna be a offense to fleury . Monty same thing , price if wasn’t injured might still be here .. so WHO , WHere is fucking number 1 goalie ??????????😢

  11. I told my buddy last week that Dobes will be our #1 goalie by the end of December. Monty is letting in a softy per game

  12. Montembeault is just another one of the DEI French hires he wouldn’t be a part of the Habs if he wasn’t born in Quebec

  13. I'm sick of people defending Monty because he had a couple of hot streaks last year and he has some good advanced stats. The problem is that here in reality he's just not a starting a goalie. Don't come at me with your bullshit about saves above expected, because his actual goals against over his career is north of 3.20 and his SV% is sub .900. He's never been a reliable starting goalie, and if he has a 40 save shutout one night, there's just as much of a chance he'll let in 5 goals on 23 shots in the next game.

  14. Let me start by saying that I absolutely love Monty.

Now that this is out of the way… The poor goalie lacks combativeness. He shows little drive for the one thing that matters : the puck. Like you said, I believe it is a confidence issue because we've all seen a combative version of Monty before. This is the main difference between he and Dobes as it stands. Honestly, despite my love for Montembeault, I think our Habs would be better off with Dobes as a starter despite his unorthodox technique. He wants the damn puck.

  15. You are totally right about Montembeault. He's not very hot this year and he should be with Dobes blowing in his neck and Fowler in Laval that can do the job with the big club too.

  16. I thought I would whine a little bit. Don't have SN so watch CBC, guess how many games Habs vs Leafs? The only time before Xmas is when we play Leafs (twice). Leafs are shown every single Saturday.

  17. I have felt Montembault's woes have been present since at least last season. I was much more impressed by Dobes play in net over his last season, but wanted to give Monty the benefit of the doubt, and not overrate Dobes' rookie performance too much, given the league had yet to build a tendency report on him that anyone would regard as valid up to that point. However, the more and more games that are played and that I see Monty struggling and Dobes looking stronger and stronger in net, makes me really question Monty's value to the team moving forward, as well as Dobes' increased value. In my opinion, Monty is a less than average goalie in this league and I have felt this way for at least 2 years now. I don't love being right in my assessment of Monty, but I'm becoming less easy to convince of his value in remaining on this team outside at best a backup role. Many may disagree, but this is what I've observed over the last 2 or so years of play. Cheers.

  18. maybe his confidence is shot cause he practices with so many young skilled teammates, think about it… he's prolly getting schooled by his defensemen even

  19. Oh the Irony- the Habs have had steller goaltending from 1986 to 2023 consecutively with even average guys stepping up in between ( Jeff Hackett,David Abescheer) even a past his prime Andy Moog.
Now they have Snipers Centers power forwards all kinds . But the chain of great goalies has been broken.
    That is IRONY.
