John Lester Johnson,Sam Langford, and Jack Dempsey it’s good to hear about these fighters.Thank you for the video. Those were different times back then, but they still spawned some tough fighters. It’s good and it’s interesting to hear about them.
That stkry about langford and dempsey for title bs , its just jack dempsey giving respect to a blind old sam Langford- giving respect from earlier in his career when he was green and ducked langford –
also look for the real story Of jack johnson vs Langford- johnson destroyed him in their match he didnt given him the rematch cause Langfords promoter kept talking sh*t , all the other black fighters johnson supposedly ducked – he beat them multiple times before he became champion ( im pretty sure he was also world colored champion might be wrong- overall hed have to fight them all to win it)
Sam langsford would have beat Mike Tyson George Foreman Muhammad Ali and that big Tyson fury Lenox Lewis Sam was the best boxer in American world History actually and how few people know his name
Before these guys came along , there was a dude that had the heavyweight title for many years . John L Sullivan was a Bare Knuckle fighter , when they fought for over 100 rounds on 1 fight !! Still thinks he was the greatest fighter ever . 😊❤
The nose in the second pic of Johnson is absolutely destroyed compared to the first. Now think about medicine in those days and you might begin to understand the effing pain these men dealt with.
I love the history of this sport! Is Sam Langford is one of the most colorful characters in the history of sports and he has so many quotables! Do you all know the one about the key? How about the one about I'm having to catch a train? So many tales!!!
He is most famous for beating a pre prime Dempsey. And he was good, but off and on. Fred Fulton used him as a punching bag, and he mostly lost against good fighters. But he could punch, and he was tough!
Langford was a force and definitely underrated, I think it’s safe to say that those who knew him did not savor the idea of fighting him for good reason.
That was Dempsey's first official professional bout and 5 years before his prime before that Dempsey fought in states were boxing was illegal,in states like that all he faced was self taught street toughs that laked the polish of a real pro . Johnson was the first real professional he faced and he finished that fight.Jack Kearns made Dempsey a real fighter when he fought Johnson it was 3 years before he met Jack Kearns so let's not make a big fight out of it because it wasn't a big fight Dempsey was way before his prime.

It sucks that two champions had to fight like that.
He didn't beat Dempsey it was a draw. Fight was only 10 rounds
Sam Langford > Dempsey, Marciano, and all the white trash who were too overrated till this days.
Besides Harry Greb, Sam Langford is the greatest of all time

It really makes you wonder if Dempsey would ever been champion if he fought more black fighters from that era

Everybody Feared "SAM LANGFORD" Especially "JACK DEMPSEY!" 🫵😂

All the white fighters back then 1898-1928 avoided the black tough hungry up and coming fighters …. we wonder why 🤔 ?
That's a helluva nose on Langford!
The fight with Dempsey was actually a draw. Although Dempsey did say he felt he'd lost because he was young and not such a good fighter back then

The fight was officially a draw.
Yum Yum eat'em up 😂😂😂
Langford was a great boxer too !
They'd have been better off to have been born in their homeland of Africa.
