Should they be allowed to do this?

The Colorado Avalanche are once again channeling their long-lost ancestors — the Quebec Nordiques. The Avs have unveiled throwback Nordiques uniforms to honor the history of the franchise, but is it fair play or is it picking at a carcass? What’s the behavior grade on a full Nordiques/Whalers throwback game? We discuss.

  1. I’m totally fine with wearing old defunct jerseys attached to your franchise. Like every other league does it.

It’s not my fault the Whalers left Hartford. Brass Bonanza fucking slaps and it’s just fun to go to a throwback game.

  2. Love it. Those are absolute beauts and my son’s mite in house team won it all playing as the “Nordiques” so we got a soft spot for em anyway.. đŸ‘đŸ»

  3. As an avs fan, I’m proud of our roots and love displaying where we came from. In what other areas of life do people try to let history die? Nowhere. People fight to keep their traditions relevant. Anyways, the Avs don’t have Stanley cups without the Nordiques. 2022 was driven by Joe Sakic – he literally is the entire franchise. So if he wants to pay respect to the franchise roots on the anniversary of his team’s relocation, I think he gets to do that. And I absolutely love jersey explanations. The Red Wings is my favorite but using these jerseys to teach an American fan base about Quebec – I think it’s good. Guarantee most avs fans didn’t know any of that.

  4. Totally fine with defunct teams being brought back for throwbacks these two guys are grasping at straws whining about it especially Pete saying it's a desecration lol relax boys it's not that deep. If you're upset because the two teams being represented no longer exist stfu the jerseys looks great who cares.

  5. Would love to see Montreal wear their Whites at home against Colorado in the Nords duds and revive the Battle of Quebec for a night.

  6. Hate them wearing the other cities jersey. Now if you played the game in Hartford or Quebec, now you’re cooking.

  7. It's their franchise. They can do what they want. How can you steal something THAT YOU OWN… 😂 What a bunch of goofys.

  8. The brands should belong to a city. This travelling team shit in america is so bad. Then the owners scheme for subsidies as well smh

  9. I fucking hate it. As a fan of a team that was ripped away from a city, Seattle would riot if they wore the green and gold in OKC.

  10. I'm not from Quebec city, but I live in Quebec City and I think that most people here think it's cool but what upset some people is the fact that there is still hope of the Nordiques coming back. So seeing an other team rocking their jersy and logo feels kinda weird.

  11. Its a fan favorite and a heritage thing. i love it personaly. I wish the Bruins would dump this new era jersey, too many bad memeories. Sorry Pete.

  12. No its corny i would prefer if the avs used their current branding in a inspired jersey but this is just copy/paste. Also the avs need to update their branding and logo already

  13. I love it. nice throwback and good for them explaining the jersey. just to put this in perspective. Baker Mayfield is in his 8th season in the NFL and was 1 month old when the Nordiques left for Colorado. The Nordiques have been away from Quebec almost twice as long as they played there… let the sink in?

  14. As a Whaler fan who was there at the Hartford Civic Center for the last game… I don't mind this and haven't minded it since the Canes started wearing Whalers jerseys many seasons ago. It keeps the Hartford Whalers alive and relevant. It's been almost 30 years since they left, let's get over it. The Nords moved to Colorado before Hartford moved… Quebec fans have always largely embraced the Avs. I don't see this being a problem. (By the way– the NHL and the Hurricanes own the Whalers trademarks– so the NHL has made $$$$$$$ since the Whalers moved, despite their own disdain for the Hartford market).
