  1. I'm hoping that Dubas will be calling his favorite trading partners, by the end of the month.

I'm not talking about a few moves… Novak, Tomasino, Lizotte, K Hayes, Acciari, Heinen, Graves, Dumba, Jarry, and maybe a few other of the questionable vets. Even if it's just for 7th round picks and future considerations, for many of them. That leaves you with your solid, veteran, top six and a chance for the young'uns to rotate around the lineup.
Will, most likely, have to use some of the cap space to retain salary on the ones in the last year of their contracts.

As forward thinking as the current management seem to be, you know they have to identified possible trade targets that "have the skills but not the skating".

  2. Great take!!! I wonder how much Pickering not being one of Dubas’ draft picks or signings plays a role in opportunity.

  3. Ryan Shea is playing well, up until the dumb play by Wotherspoon he’d been playing very well next to Karlsson. They should run Clifton next to Brunicke.

  4. Good thing we have 37 forwards, 8 RD and worst goalies and LD in the league. Pickering and Koivunen not being up here gaining valuable experience so we can possibly get someone's 3rd or 4th rd pick in 6 months, after paying someone's salary we didn't need all year is wild. Esp when we have like 12 picks already each of the next 2 years. Half in 1st 3 rds.

  5. Yeah this push for Mario back in hockey ops leadership. "We need to use this cap space $11 million!!!!!" And that's how we end up with another Graves. It's a delicate balance right now, and we're likely to see more youngsters up from WBS in the second half or next year

  6. I like the in season competitions. Plenty of time to work out the depth of this team and figure out where everyone fits before they can consider trades/roster moves

  7. The Pens are just a bad team. As unpopular as this sounds … I would send Kindel and Brunicke down, so they don't burn the first year of their ELC. This team is going to finish last in the division with or without them this season, so instead of doing what's best for 2025-26 … do what's best for 2028-29. If you don't burn year one of their ELC this season, you would still have them at less than $1M AAV in 2028. Of course, they also need a General Manager who understands how to fill out an NHL roster around them, so hopefully Dubas will hire someone for the role sometime soon.

  8. DK – Building on this, it's no secret this is not going to be a playoff team, so I truly don't understand what purpose guys like Acciari, Dewar and to some degree Lizotte and Novak really serve. Can you tell me one good reason why A.Hayes, Broz and Koivunen should not be in this lineup for the same rationale you used for Pickering and Brunicke? Let these kids get their experience in a season that is not destined to be a playoff season. Give me a fourth line of Koivunen-Broz-A.Hayes.
