  1. If we did not have Laine on the PP 1 last year in Cole's one-timer spot he would have hit 40 last year. At 31 a long-term deal for Matheson is a little scary, 2-3 years tops. The other side of that coin is if you keep Matheson you are going to need to trade Engstrom who will not want to wait 2-3 years before coming to the NHL and should be Matheson's replacement. Keep the faith and Go Habs Go!

  2. I'd think a 3-4 year extension for Matheson would be about right. He'd probably agree to a team friendly amount if he gets the length of contract he's happy with. Thanks guys.

  3. Need to trade laine, he doesn't fit slow and no effort, sign Matheson and Bolduc, need to lose Anderson and bring up florian

  4. Silly, because people need something to talk about. Ya, Matheson is always underrated. If you want Mathews, it’s five years and 8 million.

  5. Matheson is a terrific skater and good player. As long as he stays in his lane and doesn't play like its pickup hockey w his boneheaded decision making, he is welcome on our team. I wanted badly to see him go last year, but it seems management might have had a few words w him about it, cause i think he's playing smarter this season. 3 yrs is what i would offer…. not sure how much i would give him though 🤔 Having a vet or two on the team is never a bad thing for the right price !

  6. 13 is due to get 40 if he stays healthy and is on the first PP unit. Pt per game, like 14, should be his baseline as the team matures. Don’t give up on Dach yet. His faceoffs stats are getting better. They have centers in the system to develop, but everyone wants to win yesterday. Patience is an imperative…they are still a wild card team until next year, when maturity kicks in.

  7. Remember when Caufield was the best 30 goal scorer to never score 30. When he hits 40 goals he'll become the best 50 goal scorer to never hit 50. Haters will hate.

  8. The great thing about Matheson, is that’s he’s a team player. He’s happy in his new role, considering he’s not on the PP anymore. Plus if any of the PP D gets injured, he can fill in on the PP very effectively. He’s a great guy, a veteran presence, and amazing skater. He’s a definite keeper!!

  9. If you let Matheson play with capable D partner , he's good, if we don't overuse him , he doesn't make the mistakes … People have this elephant memory with all the crap plays but like no context to who Matheson was playing with and how bad the Habs were overall.

He has good skating abilities and can fill in or step up in case Dobson gets injured or needs to carry in spot moments , depth is key in the playoffs… Though I gotta admit I kinda wanna see what Engstrom Struble and reinbacher could do in the coming years

  10. Some teams will/would offer Matheson 6 or maybe even more years, the guy is still skating like the wind. Yes I would love a 3 year, 4.5 M$ cap hit contract, but that is simply not happening; I think he can still play a big role in what Hughes is building, so 5x6M$ seems reasonable, or go to 6 years @5.5M$ if that is what it takes the deal done. That would still be a team friendly contract in the current market, his current contract is already a good value deal for the team, and this is his last shot at a big contract. There is a limit to how much a player can leave on the table.

  11. WHAT!? DA HABS ARE STILL LOOKING FOR THE THING THEY'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SINCE LAST SEASON?

    I JUST DON'T BELEIVE IT
YOU GUYS ARE ALWAYS….I can't continue with out laughing. Sorry, not sorry.

Also, every time you ask for a 'blind like' (a like before watching the content), I personally give it a thumbs down.

Do you tip your waitor before, or after a sit down meal??

    EXACTLY!!!

  12. i thought i was gonna click on this and hear that matheson is a trade target, thank god were looking to extend id be very sad to lose him

  13. 2:15 I think you were looking at the assists column there because he had 33 of them last year. He scored 37 goals last year for an improvement of 9 over the previous year.

  14. It has been mentioned that Matheson is a physical phenomenon since he arrived. Why wouldn't he be able to maintain a high level of play?
