Martin St. Louis is a poor coach in my opinion he can’t put lines together properly uses players wrong favours certain players defences playing poor he’s an OK coach but I think he’s just over his head. Montreal is better than last year, but they still have too many holes in their team. Evans is not very good line. We’ll see what we get Gallagher over the hill that is useless. Elena is useless. It’ll come eventually but they do need a new second centre and they still need toughness jack I can’t do it all I need a bunch of junkyard, dogs mean and hungry on the fourth line with some speed.
Why should Monty be given games to "Redeem himself"? The stats say he is below average when it comes to point shots, his angles absolutely suck.
Monty surely can steal games sometimes… then other times he gives bad goals more often than not. He hasn''t been good enough since the start of the season in my book. his saves % tells that.
I love the excuses everyone makes for Monty.
I see the coach haters coming out of the woodworks, first time in awhile. Marty must be doing something right too keep these gremlins silent for so long
No Laine, Dach or Guhle. Not surprised that they lost. That's a lot of size and experience out of the line up
Ever since he got to Montreal he has brutal games where he just falls apart ,he barely faced any shots at all this season and he just falls apart , Monty is a backup and ill say it again like I’ve said a million times on here , Montreal will never be a contender as long as they’re wasting time with deadwood and justifying Hughes bad trades . It’s enough with Dach , Laine , Monty and Gallgher ! Like seriously , I can take gallgher cause he has heart but last night WHY was he on the ice at the end of the game!? WHY? It’s a salary cap era , teams can’t afford to carry slow , lazy , always injured players , at this point I’m getting sick of Guhle who gets injured brushing his teeth 🤦♂ Veleno should be in for now on over Laine and once again Beck was disappointing and invisible , if he’s not gonna take his chance than he’s just like Roy . Give Farrell , Mesar or someone else a taste and a chance to show what they can do at the nhl level
You just answered the problem with Guhle. Top 4 right now, should be Matheson-Dobson and Hutson Carrier. Struble and Wi-Fi.
Jake Evans hasn’t look good since he signed his contract . Letting Armia walk over 2.5 mil was a huge mistake , now they have plugs line Laine who never once backcheck his entire career playing on low checking lines 🤦♂🤦♂ the habs were strong on the pk last year , now they lost dvorak and Armia and it will hurt them , I’d rather have Armia and Dvorak in the lineup over Laine and Dach , any day and twice on Sunday
A few bad bounces for Monty made a big difference so far. A few rough goals too, but we should give him time. He's earned it.
MVP season from Monty ? Two season of 902 and 903 save % and career 898% 😂😂 either Marco doesn’t know the meaning of mvp or just isn’t watching the games
Monty..look at film video…on your knees low too much glove hand is slow the way yu hold it like a catchers MIT.. should be palm up more it's faster!!… challenge the shooters use the imagination skill to stop them…. not the same fn move dropping down ..!!
Waste xa whole year with him in nets !! Technically a mess…
Like I said Montembeault has got to go
I have read that of the 50 goaltenders who played in the NHL this season Monty's save rate is 85.7% which ranks LAST of the 50 goaltenders.
Last year Primeau was shipped out never to play another NHL game for Montreal again had a save rate of 84%.
Monty has played himself out of the number one goaltender job this year making Dobes the one to tend net.
The goaltending coach needs to be asked why Monty continues to play small in the😂 net by refusing to reduce the angle by coming out to the semi-circle in the blue paint.
Monty usually loses where he is relative to the net and again lets soft goals by.
Montreal is 5th in the Eastern conference and this year it will be tight and hard to make the playoffs.
Monty has not played well from the pre-season. D'Amico has not considered that opposing teams know the book on Monty, know his weak spots and every team has taken advantage of those weaknesses all season.
Load management forget about that, last year Dobes played well game after game when Monty went cold.
Buffalo has been playing well and are not an easy 2 points, they are also young and have won 2 in a row, the last being a shut out against NJ who haven't lost a game.
Monty lets goals in bunches, that is telling you Monty needs serious work with the goaltending coach, not real game play, yet. Monty needs to polish his game.
Play your hot hand, this isn't the Raptors when they won the championship. That's how Montreal rolled off unexpected wins just before the break.
Marty should have pulled Monty when he let another by 1 minute 40 seconds later. Monty gets unsettled, loses concentration.
I've been saying from the start. Bolduc-Dach-Demidov as our 2nd line. If Dach can't stay Healthy, try Beck.
Demidov should be playing top line eventually. It’s the only way you will get his full potential.
Monty should be sent to Laval for a couple of weeks. In the most important game he lost his own balls.
Slaf doesn’t even play play net front on the powerplay. He plays to the side and no one gives him the puck.
It's been pointed out the Habs are not making it tough for their opponents to come across the neutral zone and make getting into their defensive zone extra difficult. You cannot win games with perimeter shooting….you cannot be a playoff team with that kind of lackadaisal offense. Also can question Bolduc's long-term powerplay consistency as its falling flat on this home stand. The powerplay units need to be adjusted and not have Suzuki being on both (which happened last year).
Montembault sits until Dobes has a crappy game. Enough with this . Stay with your hotter goalie.
IMO msl don’t put demidov in 1st pp to prevent opponent to adjust given that they will probably manage to reach the PO this year, even wo a powerful pp.
It’s early in the season and good opportunity to let Arber and Struble get games in / repeat that’s needed for they development ☝️
The Habs need Slaf to study tapes of Tim Kerr.
Marco, I agree that Demidov needs to be on PP1 quickly!
I don't care what Marco says. Monty is not performing. Simple as that.
Sooo let's figure why Monty is #1!! He was not competing against Price and Dryden!
Win a game. Play the next game. Win again play again and repeat with both goalies. Reward wins with playing time. Simple
Monte often plays too deep, Guile is their best all around D and still maturing. He should not be fighting! 11,13,45,48 are undersized for effective playoff defense,. The team is soft and are too often on the wrong side of the puck. Arber, Demi, Dach and Bolduc need more minutes to set performance goals. Settle on some lines by game 15-20. As a projected wild card, the games are too close. Move Demi up to learn to run unit 1…the Kucherov role. Be bold! the Isles are playing Schaefer on the top PP unit, and Heineman!
Monty is over weight!!😮
As soon as the Rangers got their first goal, they started playing physical and the Habs lost their edge. The Habs couldn't skate anymore and were afraid to take hits to make good plays. They gave the puck away far too many times in their own zone and when they did get the puck out, they fell back to previous years type of play, give it away, give it away, give it away now. Every time that happens, MSL has no solution, he cant react to what the opposition coach is doing! The team needs to get bigger and tougher right away. Not by adding 1 player but we need 3 or 4 bigger, tougher, meaner, players. No Stanley Cup until we can compete physically!
Thanks, Shaun & Marco, great talk boys, I certainly haven't given up on Monty, but I see him struggling right now, give him some time, Doby did well at first last year, then he started getting lit up some and people wanted him back in Laval. I think they'll figure it out!
All loses that Monty played he was to blame ,can't have that if they want a winning team
If a player plays himself out of a job and another shows they are worthy of a good look. Then…you do it.
Positive for me…(1) Owen Beck gets a chance to come up, Valeno gets in the mix, and one more game for Struble & Xhekaj so we develop our depth, (2) some experimentation with lines so Marty can test some combinations, (3) Slaf gets a goal, and (4) love seeing the young stars Demidov (and Hutson) being model citizens for everyone else. You can't win every game, but you can learn from games like this one! … Mr. PuckTalk guy has been talking about Monty's technical problems for a while now; I hope he can sort it out!
If you want to play for Beck. You give more neutral. It’s the way it is. Pick your poison.
Evans, Anderson and Newhook just don't have the "scoring touch." 😮
Starr. lol. No way should you be making PP lineups. A top talking about. You guys need to stinting I much about it. It’s growing tiresome.
Hi steven, you say they have many holes but blame msl, he works with what he has 🤷♂️ btw msl adams finalist, brought youngest team in history to playoffs etc etc please blame something else 👍
Hughes/Gorton have done a masterful job but more size grit required.
I agree Bolduc Kapanen Demidov is worth a look.
I love how so many people want Slaf off the first pp and want to keep Bolduc even though THEY BOTH HAVE THE EXACT SAME NUMBER OF PP GOALS.
And Bolduc has been given all the opportunity to prove himself on the first pp, where as Slaf is confined to the corner instead of his proper position in front of the net where he can use his elite shot deflection.
Getting selected first overall can be such a curse, always harshly judged no matter the facts.
