ARIZONA STATE RETIRED MY JERSEY (Behind the Scenes)

Seattle Kraken goalie Joey Daccord takes you on an unforgettable journey as he becomes the first player in Arizona State Sun Devils hockey history to have his jersey retired. This video documents the entire experience – from boarding a private jet in Seattle to watching his number raised to the rafters at Mullett Arena.

In this exciting vlog, you’ll see:
•The 8-hour journey from Seattle to Tempe and back for practice the next morning
•Reuniting with Coach Powers and the ASU hockey program that believed in him
•The jersey retirement ceremony at the Arizona State vs Penn State game
•Behind-the-scenes moments with family, friends, fans, and the program that made him

From his early days at ASU to becoming an NHL starter with the Seattle Kraken, Joey reflects on what it means to “Be the Tradition” – the challenge Coach Powers gave him when he recruited Joey to Arizona State. This honor represents not just individual achievement, but the culmination of a program’s belief in a young goalie who would go on to make history.

Whether you’re a hockey fan, aspiring athlete, or just love comeback stories, this video captures what it means when dedication, opportunity, and belief come together.

  1. I look forward to being in the stands 15 years from now when #35 is raised to the rafters of Climate Pledge next to a couple of Stanley Cup banners.

  2. Was it on purpose that the video is edited to 35 min? I know there is some change but 35min to retire #35 is chef's kiss.

  3. The way you've been playing with the Kraken, this is so very much earned. Congrats! I'm looking forward to watching a fantastic season with you in the net!
