Why the Dallas Stars should experiment more with their Defensive Pairings
After a healthy scratch of Matt Dumba on Monday, the Dallas Stars may have got found an unintended solution to some of their problems. Miro Heiskanen was freed up while playing with Esa Lindell, should the Stars think about adding Lindell and Ilya Lyubushkin in the top 4 and drop Dumba to the 3rd pair. Joey explains his reasoning as he share advanced numbers on the Dallas pairing so far this season. In the next segment, Joey previews the Boston Bruins who come to Dallas on Thursday. The Bruins are 5-4-1 since the last time the Stars won 5-2 with 3 power play goals last month. In the final segment, we play Shooting Star and Joey goes with his familiar pick when the Stars take on the B’s.

The way i see it, the Stars must view any team that is lower in the standings as a trap game. The 7 goals is a mirage until they manage it against a better team. They haven't won me over yet. On d pairs, Dumba is likely a failed experiment. You brought him in to add toughness but also to be an impact player. So far no impact and now he's entering scratchville. Miro needs a partner who isn't a boat anchor. Not sure i would put Boosh in that category. Lindell is not ideal, but he would not be a boat anchor. I worry about a Nils-Boosh line although i feel like we've seen that already so maybe it;s ok. Nils is in my doghouse until he starts to score. That's why we got him so it must have been his promise. Meanwhile it's nice to see Reilly Smith's older brother earning his stripes with PDB. Let's go Brendan!
