We’re going over a depressing update on Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine, and how it seems like he really wants to be “the guy” for the Habs, but to no avail.

Honestly i like Matheson, Xhekaj, Struble on the left i think guhle been our worst defensmen, + hes made of glass
It's only 5 games guy relax!!!
You're killing me Smalls…I get that You're a Habs, Canucks & Red Wing Homer, but this is where I find major flaws in your journalistic narrative…
Logan Mailloux has 12 – 13 games in under his belt. Let that sink in…12 – 13 games in, under his belt…In comparison to Zach Bolduc, and your analysis of that specific trade, just last week, you put out a video where You became the "Bus Diver"…Not only did you run Mailloux over, You backed up, pulled forward, backed up, pulled forward, backed up, pulled forward, until the bus ran out of gas…. Mailoux at one time in his 7 Montreal appearances (and a rather stellar start to his career), I'm sure was touted, by you personally, as the up and coming savior to be, with Reinbacher, hot on his heels, for the Canadians foreseeable future…
I'm not trying to discount what Laine endured in Winnipeg or Columbus, muchless what he's facing in Montreal…Where I'm going with this is…You're every bit "the bully", when it comes to Mailloux, only because he's no longer a Hab…12 – 13 days into his career…Mailloux is well aware of his under performance, rest assured, no one knows his situation better than he…Mailoux will sit in the pressbox tonight, and will be receiving intense coaching and team building skills, and that's what he is in desperate need of, rather than the Patrick Laine treatment, you and most of the Canadians Press has handed him over the past couple of weeks.
The biggest difference is, Laine had it, but for whatever reason, let it slip through his fingers. Mailloux has 12- 13 games to his name. Mailloux has proven himself at the AHL Level, he just needs to be shown his faults at a professional level, rather than be shredded by the press, that sympathize with Laine, for many of the same (although much different factors) outcomes….
Back when the Jordan Kyrou talks we floating around, Patrick Laine's name was on everyone of you Canadians fans wishful thinking list, to be included in on any possible deal. The love for Laine isn't nearly as strong as the remorse that he now hits on the Habs bench, so please, save the heartache speach.
And that is my rant for the day
Let's go Patrick Laine & Let's go Logan Mailoux. May you both find your game and develop the skill to bring fans to their feet, once again.
the power play is not good at all
Laine has always only cared about his own successes, he never cared about winning or his teammates. This is why he has been hated everywhere he goes. He tried to throw Connor under the bus his 2nd year and that’s why the Jets kicked him out of the locker room. He needs to go back to the NHL sad boy program and just stay there.
Knowing that he is injure today, maybe it was related
I'm old, fan of the sport since the 60's. Seen a few promising youngsters crash and burn, but the Laine enigma is kind of singular, yes.
So weird. Feels a bit like: solve it and win the cup. If not, his career seems finito. Yes, it is sad, indeed.
Ehkä vähän Pervitiiniä auttaisi 😉
The guy doesnt have any fighting spirit, hes sad to watch. its NHL… athletes that get paid millions… i dont think he belong there anymore, the guy doesnt even want to skate.
Anyway imo he should either change or gtfo because he clearly isnt happy atm. i mean depression and playing any competitive sport is weird, one bad year.. ok i can feel empathic, but its been years man, that why im saying i dont think he belong there anymore.
Laine is just a Prima donna lol. He doesn't want to do anything on the ice for the team, yet expects to play on the first power play and everyone to feed him one-timers. If you are on the 4th line and want more minutes, at least show some effort. Throw some hits or block some shots for Christ's sake. Bros 6'5" – 216 lbs with 2 hits in 5 games…
He will not get embraced or welcomed anywhere more than he is at Montreal..they still cheer so loud for him .if that don't motivate him absolutely nothing will.and as you can see it's not like Toronto all the fans still cheer for him just as loud as they do for caufield, cause they remember the Big goals he has scored.and of course if Montreal decided not to resign him or if he don't take a huge cut to stay he will most certainly realize how good he has it now with that close team and the fan base cheering him every night no matter what.
Na the habs 1st unit is terrible. and in the 2nd unit Dobson and Laine don't mix u got 2 shoot 1st players it doesn't work. Laine himself is just to slow moving at the moment, hes gotten heavier and slower over the years while the league has gotten faster.
Laine has no heart hence minimum effort. The Habs are stuck with him unless they are willing to eat a lot of his salary. I never like the guy as with him, it's always about him…never the team.
Maybe the Laine experiment is over…
His mental state isn't too good. He was in the player assistance program for it and it can be very crippling (speaking from experience). This will sound silly but losing his hair really hit. He used to have this long flowing mane but now there's barely anything left… He even wears hats to cover it up.
Anyway what I'm getting at is his confidence is messed up & you can tell he's overthinking everything! His mind is kinda broken and it shows on the ice.
Love the guy I was so happy to hear he's joining the team but I wouldn't be surprised if he retires soon.
5 games in and the sky is falling? Get over it dude. You make $8M+ Don't over think yourself just play.
I watched highlight reels of Laine and he used to be a jumbo sized caufield and now he can’t shoot anything but one timers
Laine is just cashing checks.
He's frail and doesn't throw his body around, he's just there for the money. No other team in they right mind will claim this money grabber.
Sad, he is on antidepressants.
good news not sad news.
His power level was attached to his hairline sadly.
The most depressing thing about Laine…. Is watching him play
That’s the kind of player the Flames need… to tank!😛
He scored over 20 goals in 52 games last season.
Our power play sucks lol Laine or not. I do really feel for him and hope theres some sort of bounce back. I would love to see him pumped up a bit more and honestly Marty needs to get the power play working. That job is on him.
I got one word for you… Alcoholism!
Think Laine got hurt in this game
yes slavkoski is starting his 4th season, time Demidov replaced him on the power play. Habs are loosing time with slavkoski on the power play. enough of this patince. he must win the priviledge to be on the power play. He has had a free pass since in Mtl. Now time to earn time on the power play slavi. Consistancy Slav consistency
veleno can play a better 200 fett game. and has speed. Bolduc also is faster. Laine does not fit with the rest of the fast players. what will it take for Patrick to turn his season around in the right direction.
Laine is a clown
Guy cannot be a net positive in 5 on 5. He has to be protected. That is pretty much it.
TRADE LAINE AND DACH ‼️
Get him and Dach outta there
mental health is a big deal
He straight-ahead telegraphs a shoot first game, that is now all about deception.
I truly believe in my heart that what laine NEEDS is a child to motivate him and heal his heartbreak from his father's death. Nothing helps a man's rebuild his will and passion like the desire to be the best version of himself. Carey price was living through hell and his kids were his motivation out of his depression/addiction. My grief for my father shook me to the core and my kids were the emotional mirror to the happy moments i shared with my father and wish to express with my kids.
He needs to build more strength in his legs to skate faster and play better all around.
He never put the work in that simple, you know the Habs wanted it to work they gave him a shot and he doesn’t have it anymore
