The Red Wings were downright bad in this game. Turnovers and odd-man rushes galore, but Cam Talbot was up to the task making 38 saves and stealing victory from the jaws of defeat. James van Riemsdyk and Mason Appleton both score their firsts as Red Wings, propelling Detroit to the victory offensively. But Detroit did lose Lucas Raymond midway through the game, and if he is out for long that would be a huge blow to Detroit’s lineup. #LGRW

People criticizing the kids are dumb. You're gonna get mistakes. As long as they play fast and hard, im fine with that.
Here we are another,with a ton of the same players,doing the same stupid shit. Turning the puck over like it's a hot potato and not providing any offensive pressure. The rookies will do so because they are learning but there is no excuse for several of the other players that have been playing like this for three years or more.

Sometimes your goalie stands on their head. Just how it is. Wings win. Last game they outshot TOR. Their goalie didnt do a headstand….

Talbot avoided the Turkey but the majority of the team looked pretty sleepy. I'll take the two point.
Detroit has played all its games against teams that should end up ahead of Detroit. They won two of them and simply played without focus in the first game. Yet this fan base is still whining! Are we contenders for the finals? No. Will we make it to the playoffs? Maybe. Would that be great? Yes.
What do you expect? A team that finishes the season 81-1? Are all the other top teams already in form? Is everyone beating everyone else right now? Of course, it's the fourth game day!
Everyone can complain when 20 games have been played and Detroit is below .500, but for God's sake, just wait and see.
None of you play in the NHL, but everyone is the biggest expert, it's just ridiculous.

How about giving Berggren a REAL shot in the top six if Raymond misses some time??? He is basically the ONLY guy who never have gotten an extended look on a scoring line… He got only 2 games at the end of last season and put up 4 points, showing he can excel with more talented players around him. I don't get why they ONLY plays him on a checking line when his value is in the offensive part of the game. Getting 8 min of ice time with dump and chase plugs like Rasmussen etc isnt gonna help him get any sorts of value for the team.
Also i heard many descibe him as a "pure sniper" (including you guys on this podcast) , which is the furthers from the truth. He is and always have been a playmaker/set up guy. I would go as far as saying only Kaner (and probably Raymond as he have evolved) have a better hockey IQ playmaking ability then Berggren. The parts of the game he lacks, is his physicallity and defensive awareness (where he tend to play on the edge for offensive upside kind of like ASP on defence). And where do these attributes get exposed the most as something negative? On a 4th line who plays dump and chase forcheck style… I still think Berggren could very well be what Gus Nyqvist where, which ended up having a pretty solid NHL career. But you didn't play Nyquist in that same strange role they have with Berggren… In the end i think he should ask for a trade during the season and then i bet he would be a steady 50-60 point player like Nyqvist. They are very simular players, just used very diffrently and Bergy for whatever reason hasnt been giving the same amount of rope like the other younger guys on the team. Maybe it is because he wasnt a Stevie Y draft pick? I dunno… Just saying if you are talking about players with highest offensive upside to replace Raymond for a while, Berggren should be the guy. Maaaybe Söderblom, but he might not have the wheels to keep up like Berggren do have. Either way it's fun to see so many young guys getting opportunity, i just wish Berggren could get a REAL one aswell since he basically where the only guy who didn't get a longer look, heck, even Veleno got an extended look there last season and he cant even cricket Montreals 4th line this season…
