Sugar Ray Robinson Killed His Opponent With One Punch

#shorts #Boxing #sugarrayrobinson

I bet you didn’t know that in 1947, when Sugar Ray Robinson was at the height of his fame, he was challenged by a young boxer named Jimmy Doyle. Robinson accepted the fight and was clearly the superior fighter from the first round on. Robinson won every round of the fight except the sixth, when he got a cut over his right eye. When Jimmy attempted a right hook, Robinson somehow avoided it and landed a powerful left hook on Doyle, knocking him out in the eighth round. Jimmy fell hard enough on his back for the referee to start counting. Jimmy used his elbows and ropes to try to get up, but he couldn’t. Seeing how bad he looked, his cornerman called off the fight. Unfortunately, Jimmy died in the hospital. Later, Robinson’s biographer says he only fought to “purchase his mother a house.” After his death, Robinson gave the earnings of his next four fights to Jimmy’s mother, so she could buy that house.

  1. U wanna know why he gave the money ??? He had a dream even went telling the box bosses and they got preists to comvince him he should fight he didn't want to fight this guy cause he had a dream that he's gonna kill jimmy he didn't wanted to fight him!!

  2. Ray robinson was the greatest fighter to ever breathe. This man was so instrumental in boxing fighters today use his techniques and trainings. Sugar ray robinson perfected the jab < simply known as the JUDGE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. angelo dundee taught it to ali as they taught it to larry holmes< this jab was later learned by george forman i know the real truth to it< to do what robinson did one has to be in absolute master level training both hands equally strong. Ray robinson was so elite he could out box you with supreme ease. Or just flat out beat you in slugging. Body head, head body never predictable want to see a fighter that is the closest to him ? Go watch terence crawford< thats ray robinsons school of teaching he transcended boxing ladies and gentleman the true greatest of all time in ring fighter to ever do it!! Also note they didnt have peds they didnt have steroids back then no he did this all with hard work and dedication supremely intelligent. The most beautiful complete fighter to ever live. If theres the word million dollar fighter hed been a billion dollar fighter.

  3. The sacrifices we boxers take to live the dream. But you fans don't care for our health but only to see a k.o. 😡🗣💯

  4. There was a fight Robinson had that beforehand he dreamed he was going to kill the opponent and wound up doing it.

  5. Boxers are never the same, and if their opponents die in the ring, they have to live with the consequences of what happened.

  6. He had a premonition he would kill him, even knew which punch (left hook) was gonna do it, too. Robinson tried to pull out, but his handlers talked him out of it. "It's just a dream, Ray", "we'll have a priest ringside just in case" etc. It almost broke him. I feel bad for both of them.

  7. That was probably one of the saddest days in sugar.Ray robinson's boxing Career In boxing that is to Expected , he wasn't the first one To die in the boxing ring and he won't be the last one. But what is really sad Is how black boxing champions gave their fortunes Away And died Broke I mean.
He gave away 4 purses from 4 fights just to buy her a house. It must have been a very expensive house. That does not make any sense And in the case of Joe Lewis for him to get a shot at the title. He had to sign a contrat stating that if he won The the title from James j. Broadock.
He would have to give him 10% of his earnings throughout his boxing career. So besides Their managers signing contracts like that. Not paying their taxes, Both sugar ray robinson And joe Louis Dle Pennyless

  8. Sugar ray didn't want to fight jimmy bc sugar ray had a dream that he would k*ll jimmy he wanted to call out the fight but the host of the fight refused then his worsed nightmare came true he k*lled jimmy rest in peace jimmy

  9. No first Jimmy had a dream that he would kill his apponent and even told his manager that he would not fight, but the manager insisted look it up😢😢

  10. Ray had a premonition that he would kill him, but God forbid and and they fucking sent a priest to convince him. I am never believing religion

  11. Cleveland authorities actually considered charging Robinson with murder for this, but fortunately, more sensible heads prevailed. Murder? For hitting your opponent too hard? That's the name of the game. (And also, if a white man had killed a black man in similar circumstances, does anyone think there would have been even a discussion?)

  12. The opponents grandma probably laughed at him in a Walmart line up so he took her grandson from this earth.
