The biggest change I see is possession. We may not take many shots but we control 60% of play
Struble starts less in def zone than Arber . VERY rare they put him on offense so he'salways defending
I can recall the big three back in the 70s they were the quarterbacks of the defense core, with pinpoint accuracy hitting their targets as they forwards broke up the ice at full speed like lightning strikes, raining down on the opposing team's hitting the blue line at full speed ahead no dump and chase " the flying French men " enter the offensive zone with dominance froce. Could this be a blueprint of that era? What do you habs fans think.
Good show today boys, good to see the Habs picking right back up were they left off.
Plus the srruble/hutson usally have Suzy as center so they get the puck
Arber gets Dach /Evans 40% posetion of puck
i will personally buy Marco a white board to give us a new segment. "Breakin' it down with Marco"
Dobson plays like Eric Desjardins
Been watching the habs since 1986 , this is the fastest defense transition I’ve ever seen , Hutson , matheson , Guhle and Dobson are getting the puck outta their zone so fast . I’ll say it again , Matheson needs to be extended , seeing Guhle getting injured again last night
The habs are two minor moves away from becoming a powerhouse , getting rid of Laine and Gallgher who are too old and can’t keep up with the habs pace and their 15 mil in cap space and replacing them by good big 4th liner would make the habs instant contenters
J. Marchessault must be rolling in his grave inside not to have signed in MTL 😅
Happy he didnt
Question for Marco, with the new reality with more Canadian young players choosing the American university route, what are the chances that Gavin M not signing with the team that picks him, playing university than signing with his team of choice or forcing a trade, ala Fox. They didn’t have that option playing junior hockey
Weird. Sick Podcast made it seem like Ghule was out for the season. It’s almost as if speculation is just another synonym of overreaction.
Would love to see Velano play with Anderson and evans ad sit Laine
Also why doesn’t lane on the PP be like a point guard when he gets the puck behind the net and give a signal if they are going to drop it or rush it, he easily made the zone on one rush but there was no one with him, it has to be Suzuki or caufield, since Bolduc and Slaf are stopped at the blue line
Newhook looking good on a line that can actually keep up with him?
About Slaf, he’s a big guy, and there is one thing that most big guys have in common, they seem to or do move slower than smaller guys in general, thats why there are no 6’5” Lane Hutson’s or Cole Caufield’s. Some examples just in MTL, Slaf Dach, Laine, Dobson, Xhekaj. Something about being 6’4” and more somehow slows the body down.
Heck, even Mario Lemieux seemed slow when looking at him, and back then everyone said, he slows the game down… maybe he did, but didn’t mean to, it was just his pace of play. Mario had the advantage of having a high end game processor, thinking faster than his own physical speed, most players do not.
Slaf’s game processor is not elite, its good, but not star good. This will eventually slot him out of the first line for Demidov.
Right now, Demidov is the only player on offense with the potential to match the processing speed of Suzuki and Caufield.
(Eventually, when he arrives, Michael Hage also seems to have a very fast mind and body to match)
If Slaf and Dach were more solid defensively, they would make a good duo, since their game processing would be at a similar speed.
Matching guys with similar processing speed on lines is one way of getting chemistry, since they move and think more as a unit.
Pierre Houde is an absolute legend. Get him on the show!
But Caufield is doing it in 3 on 3 overtime
Not sure comments are read after video has been published… but here is my view…
Dont touch Dach line till end of december… he started season with lots of criticism and maybe low self esteem… its working … keep it
the other bottom 2 lines does not work… Kapanen line metrics are awful and Laine does not work well with true North South players…
so
Switch Kapanen with Evans … making it a sound defensive line
and put Demidov Newhook and Laine against other teams bottom lines
Congrats to Star… i feel you adjusted you ways to make the show even better
Marco’s hockey knowledge and understanding is off the charts! 👌👌👌👌👌
Lane Hutson who compares Suzuki-Caufield like Toews-Kane duo. I had that thought last year, but I was afraid people would call me crazy. I'm glad he brought that up 🤣
I picked Dallas not to make the playoffs. And the Oilers to not make the playoffs has we'll 😮
Speed does kill. But last night was a sign of things to come from other teams. Closed, tough no space. Best preparation the Habs can get for playing in the series !
Awesome first game to see at the Bell Center im still in awe of what i seen lastnight. I have to give a shoutout as well to McLeans pub wow I had the best poutine ever there 🤤👌
My 2 cents, if you noticed this med staff likes to get them off, prevent aggravation, no old school tough it out. so i won't panic everytime a player gets off, play less or not finish a game
I loved that one : the Scott Gomez special !!!!
Shaun, would you kindly leave the comments up a little longer. You are far to quick to switch to the next one. Give us time to read them, please.
Take the futures on the Habs.
Shaun I remember the 1 candy for 1 penny !! Only needed 2 dollas to get a full bag 😮 I'm only 27 years old!! These were the good times.
Hutson's contract is a steal today and larceny in the not too distant future. But he will be rewarded with multiple Stanley Cup rings!
Dobes is Soros just a little bigger. Hes got that Hasek style. Think Halak back when the price was right he was fighting for a spot! Great work ethic, great hustle and the wild style of that. Heart and soul kinda guy!
Keep in mind, our pp2 is playing against opponents pk2 helps looking better
You can't just use last night to compare Arber with Struble. The preds didn't play a physical game, which surprised me because they are a bigger team. When you have to play against a bigger, tougher club, then you have to have Arber on the ice or all of our smaller players will get run off and possibly injured! Against Seattle, Hutson got creamed against the boards a couple of times and if Arber wasn't playing in that game, Lane would have got crunched every time he touched the puck and may well have been injured! Rotate Arber and Struble as necessary, to help keep the team healthy. They might make the playoffs again this year, and if they don't have a gorilla up front, they are going nowhere! Get a top line policeman up front to protect the players. Florian will be good up front physically but, he is too young to do it alone. We need someone who can tame Wilson, and the other players like him, in the playoffs! As for the Olympics, I don't really care who wins, what I care about is the Stanley Cup, that's the true measure of the best team in my opinion.
