Montreal Canadiens goalie Sam Montembeault was on a podcast this week where he shared his ability to know every single player in the NHLs handiness and the color of tape on their stick. All of them. That and more in today’s NHL hockey video!

Monty is built dif wow
Goalies are a little weird but saying that’s impressive is still selling him short! Dude is a top tier professional
hello
he also said that he knew the tape job of a lot of player
That's impressive
This is what happens when you don't have to worry about women.
How come there's no video in that Hawks game last night?
Eck the rangers are killing me. Help me Eck…Tell me I'm not crazy.. WHAT IS GOING ON
To be a goalie, they must either have Autism or ADHD. just wired differently
Jeez, get Monty and Fowler together for a quiz.
Hey eck just fyi montembault is gonna go on another place called BPM sports a montreal radio to go head to head versus a friend of Georges Laraque Stéphane (Gonzo) Gonzalez for a quiz left or right its in french
If you cant pronounce it, at least link the podcast so they can get some publicity
Eck you need to talk about the habs. Back to back tie up in the third and OT winners.
Just for your info monty doing that type of quiz tomorrow at 13pm on the radio
Drette su’l tape, if you’re looking for the podcast name
I know that quebecois is hard but tape is just… tape lol
Eidetic, not photographic. Both work but the former is more apropos. One memory trick is to picture an object doing an action, e.g. stick shooting. Unsure if Sam uses this one. It can help you remember not only an object, but its order among other objects you wish to remember.
dretzultop podcast 🙂… ironically the only part you got wrong was the english word we borrowed and pronouce/use same as english, "tape" …right on the tape.
You are describing being "locked in", when it comes to remembering all goals and stuff. Which makes sense for elite athletes.
I had a coach that did this once, it was sick
I never truly remembered tape from players unless something was unreal, but I remembered their habits their tape if it was strange, but I always focused on the puck mostly and where it was always going, if I understood the player the better, I kept a guy eventually my roomate scoreless on me for two years straight, almost 60 games total, breakways and all… not a bad player, one of the best, just had his number …us goalies always size up a player vs our confidence that day and the player they are even if they're better than our best. I've made infinite stops on players that were pro, ex Jr A, JR B and just a guy in our college program unrelated…I stoned them all for .an hour or two if invited to keep ice time hours and I started getting happy cocky i could keep up with off season pros, chirping them to where they made a pact to shut me the fuck up and all rush me.. I stopped all 4 saves and ended in glove…we all left after that, I killed it.
1:41 .then again I went pretty high and played with pros that came back home over the summer months but never saw the show, still can say never went full hellebyuck nor ever went that montembault autistic…maybe
Ive faiked being pro, but I know I was a goalie in the works for all of it, just never given a chance
As a quebecer I LOVVE THIS!!
I'm surprised any NHL players use white tape on the blades. Any goalie will tell you it's tougher to pick up shots when the black puck is hidden on a black blade.
Time to make another video on the habs, tonight’s game was straight fire 🔥
I retract on my previous comment, i now see the link.
I have a very severe mental condition, i just lose my mind from time to time, really sorry about that.
Go habs go
This is autism.
2 days ago an interviewer asked monty if he was retarded i swear🤣
When a young goalkeeper in soccer. I remember doing a whole lot of visualizing saving shots and mocking up to the transition and distribution of the ball to offense quickly.
Not only that, in the interview he said that he also knows the tape job. Can't really relate that into word… but yeah. A lil bit crazy xd
this is either autism, extremely high iq, photographic memory or a combination of the 3.
What in the clickbait heck is this. Smh
Good job throwing some 4th liner and 3rd pair ducks out there as obscure players.
I stopped the video once they started speaking with too much peanut butter in their mouths.
knowing every players side and tape color is sick but he's so quick to answer those questions and that's insane for me
