The Buffalo Sabres erupt for EIGHT GOALS in their first win of the year against the Ottawa Senators

The Buffalo Sabres get their first win of the season and it finally featured some offense! Eight goals of offense! Huge games from Zach Benson, Josh Doan, Ryan McLeod, Alex Tuch, and plenty of others finally got Sabres fans juiced up and into the game. Sneaky Joe breaks down the win, from the reviewed goal by Ottawa early on, to McLeod’s massive shorthanded goal, to Lindy Ruff’s timeout in the third period.

What signs did we see from this win that could carry into future games? Benson’s inclusion in the lineup could be the biggest thing to watch. Plus, the powerplay finally comes alive, even if it got a little lucky. And what’s ahead for the Sabres as they play almost everyone in the division in the next two weeks.

  1. I love how Much was screaming his head off in the box after the slashing penalty and then he steps on the ice and later gets a goal

  2. I see the vision for this team. Benny, doan, and mcleod are the embodiment of the identity of this team. This team looks way tougher and physical than years past and much better defensively. When kesselring gets back this blue line is gonna be stacked and if lyon keeps it up I think we could finally break this damn drought

  3. This is exactly what we are capable of. That's why Ruff was so hot 🔥. He sees it & believes it. I love us in white on home ice.

  4. Everybody talking 'Fire Sale' after 3 games… 🔥 🔥 🏒 … and just like that the Sabes have 10 Gs in 4 games 💯

  5. If I were buffalo I would ride Lyon as long as possible. I would not put UPL in even when he's healthy. Don't mess up a goalie's groove.

  6. I’d still swap Thompson for a true elite forward , he’s slow and lazy and sucks playing defensively

  7. Settle down kids, it's a crappy Ottawa team, but happy for their success!

Their destination is what they make it..just win the next game.

Best of luck this season! ☘️

  8. the white at home should be a permanent thing and I think it is time to retire kickstart my heart as the goal song the team should want to change everything from the last few years

  9. The Sabres played one of the worse teams in the league. Don't expect it to continue when they start playing better teams.

  10. It’s Zucker rhymes with Cooker not Zucker rhymes with Sucker. You are in sports media covering this team.

  11. Last night I started to watch the opponent broadcasts. It’s interesting because they’re so nice to buffalo and genuinely feel bad for the team and fans. It was oddly more positive and encouraging than the Dan and Rob broadcasts (who I really like)

  12. What my eyes saw in the 3rd was players jumping on and challenging every puck in the 3rd (except when Dahlin backed off before that one goal). The numbers, though, show the same type of win that has characterized the last 5 years – inconsistent effort and needing to score over 4 goals to win.

I’ll wait and see, but I’m hoping they can keep the momentum for once.
