When You’re the Best Defenseman in the World

Quinn Hughes is a one man army… but wouldn’t it be nice to have another, stronger army backing him up?

Thank you so much for watching!
I don’t know who actually reads this deep into the description but I appreciate you more than most for actually doing that. You’re just hella academic and one could say you’re a bit of a book worm.

  1. Big fan of the hxmyhighroller like video. I’ve wanted someone to make videos like him but for hockey for a long time

  2. Agreed, Quinn is definitely better than Bouchard. You can always count on Quinn to help the team out and think through possibilities better. Bouchard is more of a wild card that can sometimes really help, but sometimes causes Edmonton to shoot themselves in the foot.

  3. I was once a Canucks fan but they made a weak swedish team that I can't watch. Hughes will do best to leave when his contract is done. EP40 ruined the team with his greed.

  4. Totally uneducated statement but I think if Hughes didn't create the d-man cut back then he sure as hell popularised it. Seems like every top dman now does a Hughes like cut back to create space. Also, the refs won that series for the Oilers. Not saying Canucks would have won the cup but we had them.

  5. There is a reason why Luke and Jack wants to come to Vancouver to play with their brother barring trade barriers, New Jersey is a dying team with window closed. Their window is too far away in the future away from Quinn's prime years.

  6. It’s hard to overstate how good his skating is , and that’s such a big part of why he is so effective stick handling with the puck too.

Is there any dman who freezes forwards from charging the point the way Hughes does? On the power play, it makes him a monster. Most dmen are very concerned about turning the puck over at the blue line under pressure.
Hughes just puts on an absolute clinic of edge work and moving side to side with the puck, while his opponent is in the blender about how to close the distance without getting beat. I don’t believe he has an equal in this skill at the moment.

On a side note, I was glad to see the Canucks pick up Evander Kane for this season. He will be a guy that can take a regular shift and make opponents pay for taking any liberties against Hughes. That is a crucial responsibility for the teams success over the long season.

  7. He's also the most reliable D-man on the team defensively. Nobody really talks about that all that much. Phenomenal 🌟
