As a MN fan and a STL fan i always enjoy this match up. I fully expected STL to smoke the wild. And i still fully expect MN to be a first round exit. STL needed to generate better chances instead of just peppering Gustavsson.
Yeah, an awful beginning, but they were better on the ice than the ugly score made them look. On offense, I didn't see any breakdowns. They were good but the Wild goalie was sharp while the Blues got no good bounces. But on defense… two goals looked like Binnington was screened by his defensemen. They scored one goal because Paraykos's stick got held. And Mailloux did no favors for his team, knocking the puck down at the blue line right to the Wild's forward.

Minnesota was gifted every single bounce. I wouldn’t sweat it
This team wasn’t ready. You could tell during the preseason that something was off mentally. They got to get it right the next game.
