  1. It's a good deal, but he was a RFA that couldn't even receive an offer sheet. If they had gone over 9, the Habs would have been a bit crazy. However, the kid could have likely got the same AAV on a 5 or 6 year deal, so kudos to him

  2. This will be one of the best bargain contracts in the NHL in a few years. If they can lock up Demidov next year on a team friendly deal. They will be set for years.

  3. Why give a kid with one year in the NHL that kind of money. I mean really being a star player so young can get bad really fast with that kind of money…..

  4. The smart teams will broaden their salary masses rather than (over) paying a limited number of players

  5. Habs got Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf, Dobson, Guhle and Hutson ALL signed for 5+ years for a total of under 48 Millions aav. ABSOLUTELY insane contracts! Kent is a magician.

  6. McDavid caused this, it shows players that the more money you take, the less you have a chance to win

  7. Happy that all of the excessive and stupid commentary has now stopped. For myself, I did not read or listen to any of it.… It was far too unbearable with its speculative noise.

  8. I feel the media just makes up stuff like negotiations were tense, he is not playing his best because the pressure for contract woes et etc

  9. Hutson at that price is a big steal. In Edmonton we have the worst contract for a d-men nurse at 9.25 .

  10. This is a Stanley Cup friendly deal and means that the young group stays together for a long time. Montreal is building a very special team that is full of talent. Thank you Lane for believing in this team and giving us fans so much to cheer about!!!

  11. Montreal doesn't have a Canadian tax when it comes to salaries like the other Canadian teams, because players are accepting less money to be here.

  12. So happy to see Lane Hutson is going to be a Canadien for years to come! I am sure , knowing the Canadiens integrity, as Hutson gets better so will the contract!
This Canadiens team is going to be a very good hockey team!👍👍
    🦂🥂

  13. 8.85 for an undersized defencemen who can't defend lol

imagine thinking you win cups with players like this, habs got fleeced !! 😂😂😂

  14. let's stop calling all these clowns 'insiders" every single one of them was wrong, call them what they really are , speculators

  15. The difference between the hutson contract and the Hughes/Lacombe contracts is the signing bonus… tax wise signing bonuses are the better way to go but the team has to have money to pay those bonuses every July 1st… Montreal has no problem with money… That's why Lane took a lower AAV, he still nets more than he would if he took straight salary
