Why not wait for the playoffs to activate Murray? At least the Leafs got one of the 2 Top D – men they need. Although it is highly unlikely, I do want to see Leafs play Bruins in the 2nd round. Go Bruins go!
Ah the Dubas haters. Sort of like Trump lovers, can't admit the facts even while they are staring them in the face. The haters have been railing on Dubas for not acquiring "the right kind of players for the post-season" which in their view had to be physical, tough, hard to play against, reliable on D & would produce some offence. Well, he's done exactly that in the acquisition of O'Reilly, Acciari, McCabe & Lafferty. They all fit that criteria, but the haters still think he hasn't done enough. They are totally wrong & this team is as improved as can be made without losing prime prospects or roster players. He's a smart GM & hopefully this upgraded version of the Matthews/Marner era Leafs can get well past round 1. This club is significantly better than it was 2 weeks ago. Looking forward to April & hopefully full health going in.

Would it be possible to trade half of Kerf’s contract? Like trade him to a team like idk Columbus, then they trade him back at 50% retained? It’s essentially the same thing as being the middle man in a three team trade

Looks like Dubas finally took a page out of BriseBois’ playbook. Regarding a potential Kerf (or Holl) canucks trade for cap reasons, if it’s true, Dubas should acquire Schenn and not picks. The only addition Tampa has made is a 3rd line shit disturber in Jeannot and they paid up significantly to do that. Leafs have become significantly more competitive with their additions but they need a serviceable shit disturber who can answer the bell if management doesn’t think Benn can be that guy

They have to shed salary. Nobody is going to take on Kerf, Holl or Engvall on expiring deals without a sweetener. Nothing of note coming back either, as it would be a salary dump.
Engvall is a liability. He needs to go before Kerfoot or Holl.
I disagree with the notion Kyle Dubas has gone all in. He’s given up draft picks that’s it. If he was going all in he would be sacrificing prospects like knies. He’s mad big moves is not accurate. Chikryun, Meir for your prospects and first rounders would of been going all in .

Love the trade, I love that we're going for it. Dubas FINALLY got it through his skull that it cant be just skill skill skill. I think we still need a couple more hitters, it would have to be money in money out, Kerfoot is 3.2 cap hit so we can start there.

Dubas already has a player lined up to move out, he would not have made the deal if he did not, of course i do not know who it is, but you can be sure he does not make the trade unless he knows he can afford it….I do not think he has finished yet, Schenn is still available if he wants a little more 'heaviness'
I would choose Engval also to be dealt over Kerfoot. Kerfoot is a solid defensive forward who also can score a goal or 2 in the playoffs…I just hope Hall isn’t playing game 1, I like him as a 7th man out for back up.
Dubas has put together a good solid team, hopefully they stay injury free and don’t lose a series because Vassy stole it again.
I think it’s Holl who gets traded unless we trying to get another player to use back then it will be Holl and either Engvall/Kerfoot. I don’t see Reese being traded unless simmonds is an option in his place

It's not a popularity contest and Dubas job is on the line. Holl is better defense depth and a proven NHL player. The leafs are going for a more physical look in the bottom 6 and Kerfoot and Engvall don't cut it. O'Rielly makes Kerfoot not necessary to keep because the leafs have 3 excellent centers in the top 6 if injury issues come up. They also have Kampf, Lafferty and Acciari in the bottom 6 who play center, even Jarnkrok can fill in as well.
I agree Kerf is well loved and he actually shows up for the playoffs. I think Giraffe needs to go. He's mostly useless
Totally agree about Timmins over Holl! I don't get what the coach sees in Holl this year.
Its either Engvall or Kerfoot that gets moved to bring Murray back from LTIR. That said, neither has value to non-playoff teams with them being UFA's. Leafs may need to add a sweetner to move them..

Leaf fan here.. sorry boys. Another first round exit. Horrible trades. Future of this club is bleak with no draft picks. Dubas has destroyed this team where he came in with an almost no lose situation. Leafs will miss the playoffs for 8 to 10 years once core stars start leaving. Sad.
Would trading kamp not make sense leafs can't resign him probably be able to get a pick???
