Real Kyper & Bourne – September 30, 2025

Nick Kypreos, Justin Bourne and Sam McKee kick off the show reacting to Kirill Kaprizov’s record-setting extension to stay in Minnesota, an 8-year, $17M AAV deal. Then, Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli stops by to discuss how Kaprizov’s contract impacts Connor McDavid and others’ negotiations, Vegas as a potential landing spot for Carter Hart and how the Leafs’ roster crunch might play out. Later, Jason York of the Coming in Hot Sens podcast joins Nick and Justin to share his thoughts on Ottawa’s outlook this season, concerns about Linus Ullmark, whether the club is ready to join the group of perennial playoff teams in the East, and Jake Sanderson’s potential.

  1. I have no idea why Frank Seravalli think he knows everything and good insider, the guy is clearly dumb and stupid, same guy who thought Leafs will lose to Senetors in the playoffs and get swept by Florida.

  2. The thing about McDavid is he probably gets massive endorsement contracts, so the AAV of the contract is prob doesn't need to be the highest one in the NHL. If he wants to win, prob going to have to take slightly less than a max deal. Kind of like what Tom Brady did for the Patriots. It is what it is, with a hard cap it's hard to build a winning team if one player takes 20%+ of the cap.

  3. Nobody talking about it… but the Wild have guys like Boldy signed for a while at a low price. They can afford to pay Kaprizov an overpayment that won't look as bad 5 years from now. Other teams like Vegas, Oilers don't have the cap room and are strapped to re-sign players this year, next year, the year after… The Wild aren't in that situation which make it work for them.

  4. He was leading the league in points on the best team before getting hurt last year…. Dude is a legit number one and can win with him.

  5. Can Sammy tell us how much he hates the Ottawa Senators without telling us how much he hates the Ottawa Senators lol

  6. If I’m Edmonton, I cannot, under any circumstance, risk losing McDavid for nothing. If a deal isn’t done by New Year’s Day, we’re going to sell to the highest bidder.

  7. Guerin took the savings from boldy, faber and eriksson ek and has spent that money on foligno, hartman, trenin, tarasenko, and jacob middleton. He gave foligno, hartman and middleton full no movement clause the first years of years of their deals then a 15 team no trade clause to both middleton and foligno the last few years of their deals then a 10 team no trade clause for hartman for the remainder of his deal. He acquired Tarasenko’s 4.75 million dollar cap hit this year for absolutely nothing not even acquiring a late round pick to go with it. Tarasenko has an 8 team trade list so he will only accept a trade to 8 other teams. All of these guys btw outside of middleton are in their 30's already. Oh did I also forget they paid wallstedt 2.2 million dollars a year when he has barely played in the nhl and he was coming off back to back disappointing seasons in the ahl. šŸ˜‚
