Happy for Lane, happy for the Habs
I think Demidov is going to be the player that doesn't give us that incredible discount rate that everyone else has. Mark my words. I'm not saying that he's going to be the highest paid player on the roster or anything, but I'm sure he's going to try to be very close to that if not try for that
Kent Hughes did a amazing job with Lane Hutson contract.
But saying that Hutson sacrifice salary for the team is pushing it.
Making more then 11 canadian millions dollars a year is a super extreme amazing salary.
I'll take just 5 % of his salary and I'll be in heaven.

If I was Habs GM, I would have dished out $10 million / year for 8 years to Lane. That's why Kent Hughes is GM of the Habs. $8.85 million / year for the Calder trophy recipient…for 8 years? Man. Wow!

Super pumped for this core they are building. My hope is that Gallagher and Anderson take short term, team friendly deals to stay with this core and be the vets that the core needs. Gally lifting the Cup as the Vet this core wins one for would be amazing.
They are so far away from winning playoff hockey number 1 the coaching staff does not coach or allow the players to play on the edge playoff hockey number 2 they lack all around team hard to play against team toughness Anderson will be a team friendly contract to resign and put two big hard to play against players with him on the forth line is a must

McDavid and Crosby set this team first path for high end players…it is about having a winning culture. You can’t win if you can’t pay more players what they deserve. Demidov, Bolduc and Hage need to get paid. Guhle is underpaid.
Dach is the key…they need him to produce, even if on the wing. Watching him skate and make moves for a big man…he has all the tools and needs more coaching, and the right line mates.
If the habs win ONE cup over next 8 seasons, fans should be satisfied. It is not easy…just look at oilers and leafs (talent-filled rosters)
Glad Lane didn’t hold the team hostage to get the highest possible contract. Subban did that and it led to the Habs then having to overpay on Price’s contract. Great players, but their contracts hobbled the team. Don’t forget that there are tax advantageous ways to structure the contract that could end up with Hutson getting more take home money than his comparators over time.
